Showing appreciation
posted 8 months ago in General
I give them McNuggets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok.. are we talking, "like" someone as a friend? or LIKE LIKE someone as in romantically.
my friends i like to cook for..
my romantic interests i like to give flowers/cook for/interweb stalk
(yes.. i am a stalker. why do you think i use the search engine that won't record searches or my IP adress, and how i know what information can be found on a public database?)
USUALLY, my stalking is only online.. usually......
With words. Depending on the person, if there is something which is a treat for them - that they wouldn't buy themselves or do for themselves - I do that. also send cheery email blasts with photos of something that has meaning for them - field of flowers in dead of winter for instance.
This is a very good question. It's hard to convey how much I appreciate those in my life in a way that has meaning for them. I think about this quite a bit. Sometimes feel like i'm struggling uphill to express it.
Flowers are my usual 'go to' way to show my appreciation... I don't know anyone that doesn't appreciate a nice bunch of flowers. If I know the person well enough though, I like to give them something specific that I know they will appreciate. Like one of my best girlfriends LOVES Skittles- so, I'll sneak a bag in her purse when she's not looking! ;-)
CArRiE - love that. the Skittles thing is brilliant!! And adorable. :-)
This whole thread has reminded me to send a few things to some friends far away.
(((Alicia))) You made me feel better. Thank you sharing that. It's comforting to know someone else feels this way. Thank you.
I flat-out tell 'em. :)
My way of showing appreciation is very subtle to most people -- I give support, man. I put my energy under you and LIFT. Yanno? It's not very demonstrative and it's easy to overlook. So if I get the feeling that they're not tuned-in to that wavelength, I just use my words. :)
Return the same favor. Say thank-you either in person, calls or e-mail. Sometimes hand-written thank-you cards for elderly friends and family members.
