    Does sugar make you weepy?

I am hypoglycemic so I do need to eat every few hours, esp if I'm being active, etc, a snack or small meal with a little protein and carbohydrate.

Anyway, someone gave me a gift of four mini-cupcakes the other day and I ate half of each one on thursday night and then kept eating into friday and friday I was sooooooo weepy. And it aint PMS time. I know I'm overworked at the moment but I do think the amount of sugar in my diet in the last 48 hours has something to do with it.

Never saw it so clearly before. Oh yeah, and I also had a slice of cake (it was really good!) at a restaurant on thursday as well!

    Does sugar break your heart?

I am no less than devastated by sugar.

Breaks my head, not my heart!  I get headaches.  I used to drink sweet tea all the time (Southerner here!)  but I've had to give that up.  That's the only sugar I ever really ate anyway, not a desert person.

Back when I ate a lot of sugar and was much larger than I am now. I would wake up every morning and cry. Your blood sugar is the lowest in the morning right?

Makes me really depressed, yes.  There's a great book called' Potatoes, not Prozac' that's all about sugar and it''s effect on the system, and how to balance your diet to prevent addiction to it, and it's effects.

sugar makes me lethargic. occassionally, i'll have "a little" and then wonder why on earth i still do that from time to time, 'cause it always turns out the same. i always feel crummy afterwards.

Like goddess, sugar and starch (white rice) makes me lethargic. I still indulge in frozen yogurt (without a cone), because I know it did not spike my blood sugar very much. I learned to eat less rice (and this is hard for an Asian girl like me :)) and gave up on pastries, chips and most chocolates/candies and allowed myself only fruits and frozen yogurt. Cutting down sugar significantly allowed me to lose 5 lbs in a month and help me become less tired.

I cannot totally give up carbs because I like to run (and do all sorts of cardio). Cutting down significantly wasn't as hard as I thought though.

I've never noticed an effect on me, not that I doubt there is. I'm not a sweets person. I do like coconut, but chocolate is saved for PMS mostly. My sugar intake is low, save for soda.
