Surgery during Mercury retrograde
posted 2 years ago in Ask For Astrology-Based Advice
Hey stacey...
My theory is that if there is a chronic or "old" issue that needs attention, it's not a bad thing to schedule & go right ahead. I've had surgery on a pre existing condition during Merc Rx & it's been fine... resolved, in fact!
I learned this many many years ago & it stuck with me, it's something Hippocrates discovered...
"Touch not with iron that part of the body ruled by the sign the moon is transitting..."
That's what I went by anyway & it all worked out fine =)
Good Luck... I really hope things go well for him (& you luv =)
P.S.... found this link, think it explains what I've said:

Thanks McKenna!
I don't really know if it can really be considered an "old" injury since he still has swelling in his hand (injury was on 7/31).
The best I can go with is that the Moon will not be VOC and won't be transiting the sign that rules hands. Even if it were, I could only worry and hope that it turns out well regardless. This surgery will take place regardless of what I think of the chosen date.
Ok.. that's bloody tough!!
Well, try & pick out the postives... you will be ultra aware of any areas that could get the hiccups & get a jump on sorting them out PRONTO!
Do you have access to a Natural Therapy or Health food store? I could recommend a couple of things you could maybe get from them to help with healing this sort of stuff, right from the moment he comes out of surgery, but sometimes, unfortunately, it's hard to access remedies if you aren't working in the field =(
Also, you may think all of that stuff is hogwash =)
Anyway, give me a hoy if you'd like some ideas.
What a bastard of a situation hey! ((S)) x.
Stacey, it seems you have no choice but to go thru with it. It does not sound like delaying it will be safe.
I actually think it does come under an old issue that is being rectified now so I think it will be ok. Also its a retrograde in Virgo if I was gonna gamble on a retrograde it would be virgo. I mean if the retrograde was say in Sag. I would say hell no take that boy to a medicine man and wait............LOL
Good luck with every thing, will keep you and your son/family in my positive thoughts.
Blessings!
McKenna, I know from whence I speak I have Mercury and two other personal planets in Sag......LOL.

As some of you may know, my son recently spent a month in jail after getting into a fight with my husband that landed them both in the ER. My son managed to get severe lacerations on his right hand which were not treated beyond his ER visit. Since last Friday, he has been out on personal bond (living with a friend's family). The other mother and I have been making sure he gets medical care. I know that one of the biggest NO-NO's in medical astrology is to not schedule a surgery during Mercury retrograde, but he really needs to take care of his hand as soon as possible. He has already likely suffered permanent damage from broken tendons in at least 1 finger. So he's been scheduled for surgery on Tuesday morning. I actually don't think the chart looks that bad. I'm actually kind of hopeful with it being so close to the new Moon. Any thoughts anyone?
