I've been known to take advice from a variety of sources, but so far it seems to work as long as I behave and remain like the person who offered the advice. It's a strange thing, I thought it would grow on me, but it doesn't seem to be the case, just running up against my natural inclinations.

To me this helps me understand why someone, given good advice, can't run with it. Not personal at all. Maybe some people do have to clutch up a lot more than others. Or it's too far removed from what resonates with them, and they can't contort themselves that much.

What do you think? What happens when you take advice from someone whose life runs very differently from yours? What about from someone with a similar style?

My nn is in Sag in h9.  I am suppose to become an independent thinker and rely less on the opinions of others. 

I am able to learn from anyone's experience. I parse through it and only apply to my own life what is relevant. They may not be ostensibly giving me advice, but I'm taking notes nonetheless. I try to learn from other people's mistakes. I'm the youngest of 7 kids, so I learned this early on. I ascribe that to my Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sag all tied together.

It would be interesting if, to support Daisy's comment, if it is also due my South Node in Sagittarius.

If anything, I am LESS willing to be advised by someone similar to me. I am contrarian that way (Jupiter-Uranus in first house).

I do think the only person who can judge the relevance of another person's input is the individual. You can lead a horse to water... that sorta thing.

That's why I try to excel at communicating (NN in Gemini). Often people are turned off by the *messenger* more than the message itself. Because of this, I try not take personally the many cases where people receive my well-intentioned advice, only to refute or dismiss it altogether.

Hell!  Not that anyone outside of me gave me advice under pluto in cap but I internalized cap lessons with dating and it lead me straight to an internal hell. Cap I now realize is good with business etc. not to be used for dating.

And listening to my family when thinking about dating/mate finding is bad too. They all have venus in water or earth when I'm libra. It's like trying to date a gemini and then asking them about dating someone who doesn't always tell the truth. Heads roll. But talk to other gems and they are very likely to give a better opinion/perspective and advice. Also I think it's saturn in cancer square my libra.

So I think it depends on what area of life you need advice on and ask the appropriate person and then stick with it.. best you can.
