"Keep Calm and Carry On!"
Free yourself
Oooh, I would use it for software design projects. How wonderful, I was thinking of getting a big whiteboard myself (need one) but really, really don't have space for it. Is he going to use it for math?
I'd love to have a chalkboard...who knows what I would write though, depends on my mood or day...a mix between daily love notes, recipe ideas, pictures, grocery lists, to dos...etc.
in all likelihood i'd put my doodles on there:
hellohellohellohellohellotherehellotherehellothere and miles and miles of weird lines. I do them to calm my mind and clear out debris.
I do have a big chalk board. I keep Chinese characters on it.
My guy has a big white dry eraser board. He usually has Lie Algebras on it, but right now its a tally from the last darts game.
music
doodles
things I wanted to remember but not in a to do list way
(like the things I choose to decorate my body)
breathe
focus
I want one now :-D
I would put quotes on mine
Maybe the soldier is going to do big math equations on it
that is TOO COOL. I love the idea and the nostalgia of the chalk vs. white board. but I HATE chalk. soooooo dry. as a pisces I hate it the way a slug hates salt.
edited to add: slugs sure like beer, tho. I like beer too. no chalk for me. make mine beer.
Oooo!! Math, schedules, odd phrases.
where'd you get it elsa? I bet hubby would like one.
I got it on Amazon. I bought this one
It ships free if you can believe that and is about $50 cheaper then anything else I could find that fit the bill. Big and of quality that is, since we will have it the rest of our lives.
It is here and I can tell you it's solid. They take some money off when you buy it so it came to $132 total and some guy delivered it here 2 days after I bought it. If you want something like this, I think it's a steal. Everything else I saw that was this big and good was about $200 and another $20-70 to ship!
wow thanks. dang I want one now too haha. I guess I'll have to draw a line down the middle.
I'm hot for that chalkboard paint you can get. Has anyone tried it?
Hey Sanguine. Haven't seen you around in awhile.
I have an old chimney surround in my kitchen that I was going to paint with chalkboard paint. I used to have parties and put up brown paper on one wall for ppl to write on. My Nan used to let me draw on her walls when I was a child.
Hey, Togi. Yeah, I've been scarce, mostly following the blog on a mobile browser lately while busy and travelling. Thus, I missed the latest class. ![]()
That sounds like a great spot for chalkboard paint, especially since you're sure to USE it. If you decide to do it, post a pic, please!
oh gosh, when i'm no longer renting, i'm soo wanting to put magnetic and chalkboard paint in kiddo's room, near the office, in the kitchen.... i have (pretty) dry erase markers right now i really want to use but don't have a board for them :(
was thinking of using the mirror by the dining table but i don't want to clutter it up. messes with the feng shui of space opening that mirrors do...
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of the magnetic/chalkboard paint!
I don't use chalkboards, they're too cumbersome for me. If I want to use chalk I either have my pastels and paper, or chalk and sidewalks (roads, whatever). I doodle!
Probably definitions of metathesis and epenthesis, because I can never remember the difference. Or funny quotes, like the ones I used to leave on the big white board at work.
Two mnemonics from when I had to take phonology:
Metathesis is when two sounds get switched, you can remember it because it sounds like metamorphosis.
Epenthesis is the adding of a sound. You can remember that because its sounds like epilogue.
Um...nothing. I hate touching chalk, that dry feeling makes my skin crawl. Mehlphhhhhllll....

That's awesome Kashmiri! Made me smile. :D
Makes one think though about going back to the basics.. such an easy way to be expressive.. or make a list.. or figure out an equation.. or calm the mind. :) Love it!
Ha ha!! Someone bought a chalkboard on Amazon and sent me the commission. Hooray!
Thanks whoever you are!! :)

The big chalkboard is here.
About a month ago the soldier mentioned getting a chalkboard... a big one. We don't have any space here and I hate "stuff" but he was quite serious, this was something that was palpable more than spoken. That is, he was vague in explaining why he wanted (needed?) one but just the fact he was asking.
A few later he brought it up again and that's when I knew we'd be getting one and it was no longer a 'want" but a need.
Now I am not exactly sure his intention but the a 4' X 3' chalkboard I ordered has just been delivered and I am pretty sure he is either going to be planning an operation, or he is going to be teaching with it, or we are both going to be teaching with it.
I think this is pretty damned cool and here is my question:
If you had a Big Chalkboard in your house, what would you write on it?
