the final rebel is forced to comply - Ireland votes yes to Lisbon Treaty

No-one was forced to comply. They could have voted no very easily.
The picture painted by the daily mail does not even come close to reality. The Lisbon Treaty makes things more democratic if anything. (there are no competences added that weren't there previously)
As for the wuation: melting pot or mosaic: I don't think Europe is capable of melting anything!! :-)

I just read this article on the Irish joining Europe through the Lisbon Treaty.
"Now, as the whistle blows, the doors are locked and the Eurotrain at last jolts out of the station, we look around us and see threadbare seats and through grimy windows glimpse an unfamiliar and unpleasant landscape, and when we ask where we are going, the crew tell us that from now on, that is their business, not ours."

I'm happy for the peace but disturbed by the reasons - ie pluto in capricorn. Final resolved 'yes' with the full moon?
Any thoughts from the Brits and Americans here? I'm a Canadian with scottish roots.. I always admired the irish for holding out while my culture was dominated.. however I never agreed with the fighting and think that things evolve and cultures have to deal and move on.
I know it's very Canadian to hold allegiance to Canada and to whatever other country we immigrated from - the mosaic idea - rather than the American melting pot.
Still in light of pluto in capricorn.. is this a good thing or something to be feared? When the final rebel is forced to comply?
