What exactly do they entail? Were these workings always there or have they developed over time? Have they changed? Are they easy for someone on the outside to figure out? What is the astrology? How is your Mercury involved? Come on, spill!

They are all pluto workings, as it's touching just about everything.  All deep, deep workings that are, most times, hard for me to see (sun in 12th).  Merc in my 1st is sextile by 3 degrees (to pluto) and I'm comfy deep in thought or light on my feet :)

Man, I'm not sure how to start this even though I want to try (without writing a book). For me a lot of the way I think has to do with information analysis and placing the information into a framework. Cappy Merc in the 1st. More than that though there's the conscious/subconscious interaction which is something I've been focusing on some for the last few years and moreso for the last few months. I think the thing that people don't get about the way I think is that I tend to remember a lot of details which allows me to find contradictions.

It's like over time the details get put into the framework of whoever and that is a sort of object in my mind. When I look at that object of that person I can just go over all these details to understand a person or whatever it is they're doing.

Caroline, It's ok as long as the contradictions fit within the framework. Sometimes fuzzy logic is necessary.

I think they are not much different than the inner workings of the little girl making mud pies in a dark country garden 40 years ago.

I remember precisely: The farm house in front of me and the U-shape of super-tall and super-huge and looming carigana bushes all around the giant garden behind me and to my left and right. I remember the shade and shadows and the summer heat. I remember the smell of the wet earth and how it felt squishing through my fingers and how it felt under my fingers patting it down into containers. I can hear the crickets chirping and and other bugs buzzing and things about me growing.

This is the first time that I can remember thinking: I am alive.  And I am having this thought.

And then I remember running all over the property trying to figure out how stuff works. Still doing that.

Everyone I have ever met or known in my life has tried to figure out my mind and concluded it was not possible, even after 30 years of trying.   Annalisa has the most insight.

I don't know how my mind works myself. I am offered feedback around my mind, pretty frequently and invariably what is I hear is bewildering.

For example, just last week my husband told me it...well hell. What he told is my mind is impossible to track.  His is quite orderly, yanno.  According to him. :)

Also, I don't think my mind is that hard to figure out, but Uranus opposite my Gemini does throw people off quite a bit at times.

That's another reason why I have clung to my ex in some ways. Seems like he knew me from Day 1.

I have a very active imagination (Mercury trine Neptune and sextile Pluto), so the inner workings of my mind are constantly changing over time.  It used to be easy for people to figure out what I'm thinking by my facial expressions, but I've gotten better at presenting a poker face. 

Ha. Mercury trine Neptune/Scorpio. Uh huh. Me too. Except - no poker face here.

But sextile Venus.

VirgoP, I have the same merc aspects to neptune & Pluto and neptune is in my 5th, I should be one creative person, I'd think :)

It's always been like this. He's a little more optimistic now and his base of knowledge has grown a helluva lot.

I have an 11th house Cancer/Venus, trine Chiron/Pisces, conjunct NN, and loosely conjunct my 12th house Sun/Leo. When I am operating closest to my highest self, I always see everyone as a baby, my baby even; at times. Not that they aren't mature and together on their own contiuum, with their own motives and attachments, but more 'in need of nurturance and healing, and intrinsically deserving of both'. My Venus truly does run my life.

I have  mercury in aries in the 8th house. Very open about sexual topics but not my emotions. I tend to forget things like my backpack at mcdonalds, but have a sharp memory for trivial, factual informations.

My merc is unaspected so it knows no bounds. I find myself understanding and trying to understand so many different things and taking it all in.  My mind knows no boundaries, or that's the best way I can describe it.

My mercury is in Gemini.  I think very fast, so fast that many can't track my thought process.  Once I was asked to list what thought brought me to what and they couldn't believe I'd had that many thoughts in so short a time. 

In my opionion my reasoning is logical but to others it looks like I'm out there.  Usually if I explain my methodology people are surprised at the practicality.

I process constantly in an endless effort to understand everything around me. I like to 'know' what's going on, or at least to have the maximum information so I can process, on and on: in most senses I'm very rational. And I always consider a worst case scenario: how could I not with so much Saturn? (he opposes my Sun and aspects most of my personal planets)

And yet my imagination soars constantly, and I'm permeated through and through with memory, equally with grand plans for the future.

I don't believe anyone has ever understood how my mind works, and I'm not sure I do entirely - though I'd make better sense of it than anyone else, by a long chalk
