I'm in software engineering, which has a large Indian population.

There's a quiet, charming sort of roaming Diwali celebration going on today.  People are up out of their seats more than usual, passing around food and chattering.  Some of the ladies are a bit more dressed up than usual, and some folks have little decorations on their desks.

I am enjoying it immensely!

The do this at my hair salon for Christmas each year.  British, Asian, Mexican and American stylists work there and they put out a big spread. It's incredibly good. I hope every year my appointment falls on their feast day. I have gotten lucky twice so far. :)

Sounds fun! You're making me miss the multi-cultural Christmas pot luck that they used to throw at my work each holiday season also....

@shannon - that's so awesome. i love indian food. i used to work at an indian restaurant and the guys in the kitchen would sneak me my fave foods.

i work in an international department so it is more diverse than the rest of the company. we get the occasional treat from a visiting country. and people here love to bake - i ain't complaining!

Despite my multi-cultural workplace, we don't seem to have anyone who celebrates Diwali!  So sad - it is a good time of year....just like Holi in the spring (lol).
