What's wrong with taping the Breaker Switch on, out of curiousity?
I've had that idea myself, but I was always too lazy to do it, and figured there's probably some reason it's configured as a switch rather than just being a straight piece of wire.
If the breaker flips that means its overloaded and needs to shut off. If you tape it, It will stay on and could blow out or start a fire.
Oh, that makes sense. I figured it was some kind of safety thing.
The problem we've had around here is that we keep having the breakers overloading at loads that shouldn't be overwhelming them. Which can be frustrating until we get them down here to replace the breaker.
We flip breakers at work all the time due to the dryers (groom shop). I can so see one of our teenagers doing that.
So, it's normal to flip circuit breakers on and off frequently? I always thought the circuit breaker flipping too frequently was a sign that the circuit (or at least the breaker) wasn't built to handle the kind of strain being placed on it, and needs to be upgraded.
Sometimes that is the case but it can also happen because the equipment that is running on that breaker is defective and not operating normally or something has gone wrong somewhere along the way.
I just like it when Geminis do a quick fix. Sometime its ingenious, other times... its hilarious.
I did something equally ridiculous when I was young. I wanted to change the seat on the toilet to a new one. A nut on one bolt that fastened the seat to the toilet had rusted and wouldn't turn.
Sooo I thought I will just tap that nut with the hammer. (You know this is going to go wrong) When I tapped the rusted nut on the bolt a chunk of the porcelain toilet broke off!
I flushed the toilet to see what would happen now that the chunk was missing and water shot out from the side of the toilet like you had turned a fire hydrant on! ![]()
Good news is you can super glue porcelain!
Hammer + porcelain = FUBAR
"I imagine for the next week or so she will be harassed with comments like "I dunno, just tape it." I image this because I will be doing most of the harassing."
LMAO!
OMG, Tam - I can SO see myself doing exactly the same thing (up to and including testing out a flush to see what happens).
Y'all are cracking me up this morning.
thereIfixed.com it was so hilarious, I woke my boyfriend up 'cause I couldnt stop laughing.
Reminds me of an Ex who had a "magazine rack" in his bathroom made of a folded in half towel nailed to the wall.

So we have a 19 year old Gemini at work. Shes like everyone's little sister, we all love her dearly. Anyway, When I went into work tonight, The boss was in the kitchen giving her a talking to about what "the right thing" to do would've been. I couldn't help myself, I had to know. "What'd she do?" The boss sighed and put his hand over his face, I immediately realized it was not out of frustration, but rather he was trying his damnedest not to laugh.
Apparently during little Gemini's shift the breaker to the kitchen lights flipped three times. Not wanting to deal with the inconvenience of lights going off, she went outside and taped the breaker switch ON. There, fixed.
I imagine for the next week or so she will be harassed with comments like "I dunno, just tape it." I image this because I will be doing most of the harassing. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
