my moon is in Leo, and I really don't think I could ever be a vegetarian. I just like meat too much. I do try to always have a vegetable with dinner I don't know if that's related to my moon being in my fourth house or not.
Virgo moon in the fourth house. I don't like spicy food and I have a lot of food allergies. Sometimes I'm allergic to something specific like sunflower seeds or sometimes it's a combination of foods.
For instance if I eat a hamburger I can't have the three way combination of onions, cheese and wheat bread.
One of those items has to be left off.
I'm willing to try new food but because of my allergies I have to quiz people about the ingredients.
This will sound funny, but I like to eat with men. Given the option I would eat only with men because they eat exactly what they want and they don't care what anyone else thinks about it!
I have a 4th house Cancer moon. I like eating - a lot. I also like cooking for people I care for.
However...
I barely cook for myself. I would probably make some rice or pasta then dress it with all kinds of vegetables and legumes and eat them uncooked. I make salads on a regular basis to nourish my body. I never was like this before (I was a frozen dinner kinda girl), but for some reason my body started craving these healthy things.
Moon in Gemini in the 6th - I don't like to eat just 1 thing. Like simply a bowl of soup. Has to be something else there too, even just crackers. So side dishes rule.
And condiments. We have 5 different kinds of mustard in the fridge (my husband's moon conjuncts mine). We don't eat out a lot but we go to a Chinese buffet sometimes. Variety!
I love to cook & I have Saturn in the 4th house and man can I squeeze a penny at the grocery store.
Capricorn Moon in 1st
I like cooking from scratch. I make my own dressing, bread, blah blah. I mean, when I am able to. I'm no saint.
I feel for people with snacking/junk food issues. I don't like packaged stuff. All I have to do is look at lists of ingredients, and think "ew. I don't feel like eating preservative 12YXc56 today"
But! I have some wicked addiction to pickled food
-dill pickles
-pickled asparagus
-etc
and CHEESE!
I also have an addiction to instant noodles, but only eat the MSG-free kind...there's little of that, so my addiction is under control. I swear, all I have to do is think "chemical" and I don't want to eat it in large quantity.
Beer, on the other hand....I love me some beer.
Moon in Leo 6 house---- trine Mercury Sag
I love meat as well but i cant eat it often! I prefer to have variaty! I could eat anything especially forener food just to try it ! I dont make a big fuss about it! I would be happy with any combinations of food) ! But usually I dont eat fast food.
When i see someone eating n the TV , it makes me want to run to the kitchen just to try the same thing!
Eating is so connected with my mood! If i dont feel ok then i wouldnt eat ! Sometimes when im busy i get lost in time and forget to eat! I know its crasy but fortunatly it dosnt last long. I never put weight and i seem to be a sponge when i drink - escpecially water! I cant get enough:P
Kashmiri, I see some real similarities in us - I wonder if it is a 1st house moon thing.
I am so picky about labels - I always read them and refuse to buy stuff when I see ingredients I don't like, preservatives, cheap substitutes, artificials, etc. Am a food snob. I too prefer things made from scratch (only I'm not usuually the one making them in this household, lol) I rarely eat processed foods - only ones with short natural ingredient lists. And I have an addiction to pickled and fermented foods, which I do make: mead, beer, pickles, kimchee, kombucha.
and CHEESE - don't get me started! I am famous for my cheese habit
MMariana, you are right Variety is a must!!! I too love trying new things, especially foreign (well foreign to me) foods. You are lucky on the weight thing, I just can't seem to get the weight off.
Kash--for as long as I could remember, I've had the worst habit of reading labels! It used to drive my mom crazy. I used to dry heave at the sight of some of the ingredients. Kept me skinny for a long time, lol. Moon in Cappy.
Sadge moon in either first or second (cusp). The best food is food someone else made, and I loathe cooking with a passion. Love Chinese. Foreign cuisine in general, I suppose.
My husband and I go to a sushi restaurant once a year & I have a long-standing bet/dare that I will eat anything he picks out for me. (In addition to my regular meal.)
I've eaten some weird things.
Cancer moon in the 9th house = feed the ones you love, particulary family-oriented dishes, like mole as learned by my great-grandmother. And I love to eat as well as cook.
I have a Libra Moon in a Virgo house, the 6th. I change up between really rich, no good for you food and uber-healthy food. It all depends on what kind of mood (Moon) I'm in.
Yesterday, I snacked on steamed baby carrots and cauliflower/broccoli florets (6th/Virgo), but I HAD to have this rich, buttery, cheddar cheese-based sauce (Libra) on it. It's no wonder that I have trouble losing weight...
LOL, shell!
Jilly - haha, that's wild, we're so similar! I have a Gemini moon and I also adore side dishes. I also love stuff like tapas and all the pan chan you get at a Korean barbecue, and I am famous at Thanksgiving for making tons of salads and sides like beet salad with goat cheese, brussels sprouts with hazelnuts or pancetta, stuffing with chestnuts, etc. etc. And three different kinds of pie. I also have a ton of different hot sauces and jams in my fridge.
I don't actually eat, though.
I also read all the labels and have a 1st house moon. I'm sensitive to weird sugar substitutes and various additives. Cancer sun and virgo moon equals delicate digestive system
I have a huge sweet tooth, love comfort foods and healthy foods and eating until I'm worn out :)
My moon is in Virgo/3rd. My ideal is a vegetable plate of stuff straight out of the garden - tomatoes, okra, squash, along with some pintos & cornbread washed down with sweet tea or a high quality cold beer. I could just weep.
Aries moon - seems to be soft squishy foods...mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, pudding, ice cream, soft cheeses - I see a dairy trend here...
Capricorn moon. Third house. I love to eat but my body does not always love the things I put in it. Have trouble with sugar, dairy, wheat. Choose not to eat beef or pork and have been a veggie on and off due to ethical reasons. The idea of slaughterhouses repulses me. Have sun (virgo), pluto (virgo) and uranus (virgo) and neptune (scorpio) contacts to the moon.
Now that I think about it, my virgoness comes out more in the area of food than almost anywhere else. I am very conflicted over my relationship with food.
My moon is in Libra (4th/5th house cusp). There's always dairy in the fridge. I don't do vegetables. Sorry, but eating broccoli kind of ruins my day. I'm a pasta/rice girl.
Also, I can't cook to save my life, but I'm really good at complimenting people's cooking skills
. My Libra moon is sextile Sag Venus: I'm addicted to sugar, starches and seafood. However, it's a battle to make me eat red meat (Moon square Mars).
Moon in Leo, in the 6th house.
6th house-My eating affects my emotions. When I eat too much I get angry. When I eat too little I get cranky!
As for the Leo part, I like 80% of food!
I have a 6th house Cancer Moon. I talk about food all the time. It's more than just about food. It's the idea of food and what it brings up. I like banchan too, Jessica. What do you mean you don't eat?
My Moon is in Libra in the 9th house. I do like exotic foods and sweets and I tend to overindulge in the latter at times (Moon square Venus 6th/7th cusp).
Good thing I don't mind working it off (Moon trine Mars in the 5th), if I absolutely have to (Mars in Gemini).
i have a cancer moon in the ninth house and i love trying all sorts of exotic cuisine world over.
Moon Scorpio here. I adore food and eating and will try anything once. Love cooking for a crowd.
Meals with a lot of ZIPPP! appeal to me the most, I think. I cook with a heavy spice hand and toss things in there with wild abandon. I almost never measure. My "method" of following recipes is to Google the ingredients, find one that sounds interesting and then put my own spin on it. Whatever I have around goes into the cauldron.
I like to dissect a good meal that somebody else made and try to figure out what's in it. "Mmm... coriander? Sage?"
Well, really though, my mood dictates what I eat.
Mmmmm Jessica....Korean BBQ is the best, especially all the side fixins!
I loooooooooove food period. All kinds.
I have a problem with boredom and binging. I remember one day the kids were at school and I was at home with NOTHING to do that day (rare!) and I just kept on going back and forth from the pantry to the couch. I even felt a little shaky (too much sugar?)?? I thought man.....this is a serious low point when it comes to food. I mean literally, for like 6 hours....binge snacking....I wasn't even hungry...just bored. Never again.
I love eating with others whether it's going out to eat, eating here at my house, at theirs....or whatever. I just like the togetherness of dining. Cappy moon second house.
Just made a connection over on another thread. Becca mentioned a sandwich made from an ingredient I had never heard of and immediately I thought, "Man, I gotta find some of that!" even though I had no clue what it was. *lol*
Chart-ruler moon in Aquarius, yo. That's all I have to say about that.
aquarius moon, I'll eat anything once. in the 7th house of aquarius, so i like to dine out with a partner often, when circumstances allow. was a vegetarian for 5 years and eventually began eating meat again due to health problems. i see no reason to go back due to the fact that it was for political reasons that i no longer identify with anymore. indian food is my favvvorite... got weird cancerian food attachments and i have the weeeeeirdest food habits. like for instance i can remember what my favorite food was for every half of every year that i've lived since age 4 or so. I also get into habits where i'll eat the same thing over and over until i get sick of it, like clockwork. some of these have been artificial crab meat (wut?), canned spinach, fontinella cheese, rice cakes, chow mein noodles, soy nuts... i'm just gonna stop now.
dina2, I also have scorpio moon and I loooooove to cook. I love making an intense amazing meal for other people. I think people who need recipes are total morons. Its like I can't believe some people can't just intuitively make something delicious. I love going out to eat, taking a bite of something and saying "I'll make this tomorrrow and I'll do it better."
notatirem:
"I think people who need recipes are total morons. "
Oh, no, oh, no!! Hahaha... I DO think this at times but try not to be so harsh if I really like the people otherwise. ;)
A couple of weeks ago I went to this Italian restaurant based on a glowing recommedation from a friend of mine. Well, her utter Irishness AND the fact that this was a chain restaurant should have been my cue to steer clear. This was by far THE WORST "Italian" food I've ever eaten in my life.
I tried to be polite. When she asked what I thought I smiled and said, "Well, uhh, you know that I come from a family where if the sauce wasn't cooked with a specific brand of tomatoes from a specific specialty store in Brooklyn, my grandma would have a kinyption (sp) fit... right? So... my critique of such food is kind of on an entirely different plane... ;)"
(The truth is, in my own life I couldn't care less where the tomatoes came from as long as they taste good. I was just trying to lend a perspective.)
So anyway, getting around to my point. Your remark about people who need recipes made me laugh... BECAUSE, at that very night at this wretched excuse for an Italian restaurant, my one friend was trying to tell the other friend how to cook zucchini "Italian style." She was listing her ingredients... tomato sauce, onions...
And the friend was really trying hard to process the information, like "Okay... so you said onions... and then what?"
And I'm thinking, should I tell her to add some garlic? Would that be too confusing?? And in my head I'm like DAMN, not only am I stuck eating in the worst Italian retaurant ever, but now I can't even have a decent "food conversation" because no one here would know what the FUCK I was saying!
Zucchini! Oil! Garlic! Onion, if you want! Fry it up in a goddamned pan. Sprinkle some salt and pepper! Taste it, does it taste good? If not, add something else. Maybe some parmesan, if you're feeling crazy.
Damn. Sometimes I really feel like I'm on another planet.
I think I'm getting a little overly intense today, PMS may be a factor, so sorry about this if it's coming across in my posts. Heh!

I just got back from lunch and started thinking about Moon signs, houses and aspects and how they relate to eating habits.
I've got Aquarius moon in the Aries house - I usually can't be bothered to cook, unless I am inspired by some quirky new ingredient. I usually over spice things - love hot food and left to my own devices will just graze. Luckily my SO has Taurus moon in the Taurus house. He loves food loves to cook and is a gourmet. The best cook I know actually (don't tell my Cancer mom who is also super good!) He cooks me breakfast and dinner everyday even though he works all day with food too - I just have to be careful not to overeat it is so good!
They say the aspects matter too. I have the moon aspecting venus in the 9th and I also love ethnic food of all types. The more exotic the better.
Where is your moon, and what are your tendencies around food?
