The Nodes spend a couple of years in each sign. Eg. Everyone you know that is your age will also have NN in Capricorn. So the house it's in is very important.
My Dad has South Node in Capricorn, married and had children later than most did back in the day (his late 40s). He was born in 1926. Do you know anyone born around then? He fathered 2 daughters with North Node in Capricorn.
The Nodes within families is fascinating, too. His South Node is conjunct my Moon in Cap. And my mother's NN in Libra is at the exact same degree as mine.
RE: I'm not entirely sure as to why you are interested in exploring it if you don't have this.
Right, Kash, that was why I was asking the question. She gave me a link to South Node in Cap AND North Node in Cap and I was wondering if I misunderstood something. As far as I knew, NORTH in Cap and SOUTH in Cancer was the ONLY thing that applied to me.
RE: Everyone you know that is your age will also have NN in Capricorn. So the house it's in is very important.
Ohh. So all 37 year olds have this?
Well that makes more sense, then. Thanks!
Yes, they do have it, too. And you have your Nodal return around age 37. NN is in Capricorn at 25 degrees as we speak!

Let's start right at the beginning, with context (for those who do not know a node from a hole in the ground, or who aren't in on the current class in the Colosseum).
JM, the astrologer who blogs at Raging Universe, swears by the Nodes of the Moon, has studied them extensively, and has covered most of them on her blog (but alas not all).
If you want her take on the Nodes in general, read this:
In this entry, JM explains her view on what the South Node means, as opposed to what the North Node means.
Please go read the entire article, but here's the short of it:
"The South Node represents all that we have mastered and are ready to leave behind. Job done. Some astrologers believe that it reaches back to past lifetimes and contains the soul memory of many lessons already learned about this function in the personality. The North Node contains all the lessons of the person's future, and is a guide to personal fulfillment in the current lifetime.
I've studied these nodes for many years and have found them to be the most accurate indicator of the problems in a person's life."
(more coming...)
Now... to get to Bananas' question(s)...
The nodes, like the planets, are in a sign and in a house.
For those who may be newbies, there is a correspondence between a planet, a sign and a house -- a common flavor, let's say.
For example,
* Pluto rules Scorpio and the 8th house
This means Pluto, Scorpio and the 8th house share common themes (flavors) -- things like power, sex, secrets, depth, shared resources, life and death, transformation...
So...
You have two nodes.
- The South Node is in a sign and house.
- The North Node is in the opposite sign and house.
For example, Scorpio and 8th house = same flavor, so she has combined them in one entry.
So... (still following?) ![]()
If you have
- the South Node in Scorpio in the 3rd house
- the North Node in Taurus in the 9th house
- South Node in Scorpio (which she combines with the 8th house because it's the same flavor)
- South Node in Gemini/3rd house (because your South Node is in the 3rd house)
- North Node in Taurus/2nd
- North Node in Jupiter/9th
Is that clear as... mud?
Is your head spinning? ![]()
That's it! If somebody can make it simpler, or if I've got it wrong, jump right in! Neith???? ![]()
All right, got it. So "South node in Capricorn" actually doesn't apply to me. THANKS, Strawberry Fields... your explanations are extremely clear. Virgo Mercury, perhaps?
You know what strikes me as funny about Scorpio? Death, secrets, mysteries, sex... okay, I see how all those are related.
And then we have... shared resources.
Um, what?
I think it's because the zodiac is split into "public" and "private" ("mine" and "ours," however you want to put it). 2nd house is under the radar, "my" stuff; it's opposite, 8th, is aboveboard, "our" stuff.
Sort of like 1st is "me," 7th is "we" or 4th is "home" (private us) and 10th is "work" (public us).
Thanks, B! I have planets in 2 and 8 and that "shared resources" made me scratch my head for a long while, too.

Hey, y'all. Behind the scenes in the Colosseum, we have been having some rousing discussions and chart explorations. Strawberry Fields shared some great links on the nodes of the moon.
I am asking this question here because I feel that I have taken up enough time in Elsa's private class. So what I'd like to know, SF and anyone else who has input, is this:
Strawberry Fields sent me the following for my node explanation.
Where you're coming from (and what you need to move away from):http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/2007/07/south-node-in-capricorn-or-tenth-house.html
http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/2007/03/south-node-in-cancer-or-fourth-house.html
NOTE: I have the North node in Capricorn and the South Node in Cancer. So I always thought that if you had the north node in whatever sign (say, Gemini), then your South would always be the opposite (in that case, Sadge).
What I want to know is, how does "South node in Capricorn" play into my chart? Is there something about Nodes that I'm not understanding? How does it work (need general, layman's explanation).
THANKS!
