truly an endangered species...

I wish I was a redhead. :( Both of my grandmothers were natural redheads, but only my mom's family passed it down -- two of my uncles and one aunt.
That's the side that has hemophilia, too, btw. :) Not that there's a correlation, but it's interesting, gene-wise.
@ SaDiablo -- The haemophilia could be, and there are other 'undesirable' attributes, in potential parents' minds, like sensitivity to pain. A redhead actually needs 20% more analgesic to ameliorate pain, than otherwise-pigmented peeps. I can attest, actually, and I have a lot of food and drug sensitivities; as well.
I'm convinced actually, that the story "The Princess and the Pea", was about a redhead; but I don't think that's a good enough reason to rule us out !
I have my doubts about the redhead-pain thing. Studies contradict each other -- some find redheads less tolerant to pain and others that redheads have greater tolerance, and it seems to differ depending on how they inflict the pain. :/

Whoa, Tam ! I bet that you save quite a bit on allergy meds, then ! That's really good ! ![]()
I think they're just afraid we'll take over the world.
They'd better think twice, choosing sons over daughters, too. All them boys are going to grow up and go looking for... Chicks ! Redheaded chicks ! And there'll be no true ones to be found.
@SaD -- I was tolerant enough of pain to deliver both of my 10 lb., 4 oz. sons; at HOME. Homebirths come with the caveat of no available pain meds, straight up. But I found it strange, until I learned about the analgesic data, that I seemed to need more than the average she-bear. It's helped me accept that I have to take a higher dosage, and not hate on myself for doing so. Migraines are my Achilles heel, with menstrual pain running a close second; and I AM intolerant of both.
I think red hair dye should be illegal, Not kidding.
I find it offensive.
I was almost about to go apeshit on you for pulling out the g word but then realized you're one of us, so we're cool. Yes, I'm linking to this again...
The pain thing is inconslusive because I don't think they are accounting for the different types of redheads. The dark reds are heartier. The lighter reds are weenies, sorry weenies, but you know it's true.![]()
@Nota -- I was wondering when you'd chime in ! LOL ! To be honest with you, red hair dye pisses me off too, my only comfort is the knowledge that it is nearly impossible to keep up; as it fades the fastest of all the shades. Myself, I've been graying since my 20's, so I rely on an application of henna to my new growth; about every 2 to 3 weeks. I refuse to give up what I was born with, and the shade it turns out is pretty damn close ! Gotta let my bitch-flag fly !!
I've known a few men with a real thing about red-heads.
My ex and the Actor were not quite redheads - more blond with an auburn tinge in my ex's case, and true auburn in the Actor's. I've never done the deed with a true redhead - I'm a bit iffy about red pubic hair! Both those men had a pretty high pain threshold, esp my ex.
My best friend in the sixth form at school (16>18) was a very dark redhead with green eyes and pure white freckled skin. She was one of the most stunning women I've ever seen. She tragically committed suicide when she was about 23.

I'm talking about Redheads. I just read an article, saying that sperm banks as of lateare rejecting donations from ginger men; because no one wants redheaded children. As it is, we only comprise 2% of the world's population, whatever our nationality.
Maybe no one wants redheaded children, but everyone sure as hell wants to be a redhead. Out of my class in school for example, I was the only redhead when we started in January. Now, like half of the women in my class have changed their colour to some shade of red, on a constant basis, since then. The colour in a true redhead's hair comes from a recessive gene as it is, so imagine what other attributes women are saying 'no' to; in choosing that way. What do ya'll think of this ?
Anyway, here's the article : http://news.yahoo.com/nobody-wants-ginger-children-221409600.html
