I'm so sorry CP. This kind of shit is just inexplicable.
How horrible for his family. :(
Thank you for your compassion around this. And for the prayers and good thoughts to his family during this time and the days ahead.
He wasn't someone I was personally close to. Just that he was nice, and our mutual friends really thought highly of him. I think I'm triggered from the abruptness of having (here and elsewhere) the discussions and talking/writing/thinking about aggression and violence and unbridled anger go from abstract theoretical to in-your-face consequence/reality in the space of a heartbeat.
His/our friend wrote this (I don't think he would mind my paraphrased share): "Really have no idea how to react to this, any more than I would have an idea of how to reason with someone who's currently arguing with a tree or a light post. It just simply can't be undone, and that's the end of it. Sad."...
And that is it, when all else is processed, "It simply can't be undone". :(

that is so awful.

How can the kids and his father ever get over witnessing something like this...

I just learned that a very nice man, a good friend of a friend, lost his life last night.
His misdeed? Driving through his own fucking neighborhood with his dad next to him and his two small children in the back. He was running errands before their big weekend trip.
Two miserable motherfuckers involved in some personal conflict started shooting at each other...
JF took a stray round in the head and died in his father's arms. His kids ran to the local restaurant to beg for help. He was 43 years old and a genuinely nice man living a genuinely nice life with his genuinely nice family and friends.
I am gut-punched...WTF, people? Contain. Your. Shit.
This is that Uranus/Pluto stuff, right? Well it fucking sucks.
