Mars Uranus square here too. I have never dreamt/felt strongly attached to a war, or battle scenes, but I have had to deal with my very strong tendency to be confrontational, or look for a battle where none exists. It's funny, I always thought it was the scorpio moon thing that has me so often on the lookout for enemies - this book sounds very interesting, maybe will try to pick it up.
notatirem: I have this placement - which gives me quite a volatile temper but vivid dreams or weird "memories" of violence - things that I haven't even experienced in this lifetime.
This is the reason why I cannot watch violent movies at all.
Dorothy: I am a very confrontational person myself, though I think this placement is better expressed through my temper. I AVOID fights as much as possible but the weird thing is... I don't run away from them.
So funny Lunalie - I can't watch any kind of violence as well - it makes me physically sick.
interesting! i have that book, i should read it.
i have read somewhere (can't remember where) about inconjunct aspect being an indicator of fate. i have Mars inconjunct Uranus. I do have past life stuff re: war and warfare. I think in my case Aries South Node also indicates this.
I've had feuds with people over the years, but they are almost always straight up personality conflicts. At least %80 of them people wanting me to be a certain way (Uranus is conjunct my Midheaven). I can get uppity. But for the last 10 years I have been working hard to be less combative and more tolerant. I think I'm doing pretty good. I do like a good rant now and then though. Let 'er rip!
Notatirem,
The Arroyo book is really good! I have a Mars/Uranus opposition, and I've always felt that I experienced (and died from) warfare in a past life. When I was little I used to fashion a sling for myself out of an old t-shirt and pretend I was a wounded soldier.
My 4 year old nephew has a mars/uranus trine. If you pull out a map of the world he starts marking spots in the oceans.
"What's that?"
He'll say, "that's where the Bismarck sank," or the USS Hornet.... He knows more about WW II than most adults. How could a four year old know this stuff?
"Who was the leader of Italy?"
"Mussolini. They hung him upside down."
Unbelievable.
My nephew and I both have uranus in the first house.
I have the Mars/Uranus aspect described above as well as some of the dream history. I can't, however, be sure that this aspect is causing my dream stuff. I have Neptune conjunct my chart ruler, which is Mercury, in the 3rd. I tend to attribute most of my daydream activity to that placement. I certainly have a combative streak, which I've mostly blamed on my Aries moon. I don't know. I have Libra sun and I can't make up my mind. Perhaps it depends on which planets and placements are being activated at any given time. I stay abreast of things over at Astro for that very reason. It helps to know when my native impatience might be flaring up. I tell myself, "Don't say anything, don't say anything. Get paid." The phone rang today at about four p.m. Inevitably, that call is from someone wanting to know why my project is taking so long. The manager was sitting about three feet away from me, eating candy. I said, "Oh, a four o'clock phone call. This can't be good." And then we knew who was on the line, and made light of it. Hey, it's not my fault that they cannned everybody, and we're behind. (Philosophical chart all around. Amen.)
"I have a natal Mars/Uranus square and since very early childhood have been haunted by intense dreams and even waking visions of war. "
Same here but I figured it was because Mars is in the 12th.
mars/uranus trine (pisces/scorpio) (loose trine. 8 degrees orb)
many many war dreams, but mostly in the future rather than the past.
vivid vivid memories of dying violently/in the past
always figured it was the eighth house aries south node, really.
hi notariem....I think we have some big time similar fitures in our chart.
Funny how after reading the suggestion on the blog I also got the book and finished it a week ago.
I have a mars uranus conjunction (scorpio) and I think the book sayd something like compulsion wich had no concrete explanations.
I have been trough it and of course astrology is one of the biggest help I found to recognise and accept this unesplicable acting.
Jilly and Vicaris, yes I have mars in the 12th (also trine Neptune.) I always attributed my dreams to that. It just struck me when I read that passage in the book because I never really related to the mars/uranus aspect before.
Hi I have Mars conjunct Uranus conjunct Sun in the First House in Cancer with Gemini Rising.
Years ago as a young adult I had a very strong image come up that I intuited as a past life memory of being a young boy about 5 ..it's night and I am surrounded by big out of control fires all around me... large burning buildings. I am a haemopheliac ( sp) and I am injured by the part of the falling buildings and bleed to death. For some reason I identified it as the Russian Revolution and that I was part of the aristocracy being deposed. Interestingly, in my 20's I was on deaths door twice due to a heamouraging issue ( I am not a haemopheliac ) which I eventually cured through diet.
On another occasion an astrologer., 25 years my senior and whom I respected highly told me of a past life she saw where I endured major sexual abuse, suffered greatly and died at 29. In this life I have not suffered this way except for one instance in my early 40's where I did experience a life threatening attack and sexual assault in my home by an intruder. The suddenness and aggression to my person might be that he Mars Uranus and Sun were triggered by a transiting planet. I have not thought about that till now...will to look it up. These are experiences of being acted upon in an aggressive way...
I am not an aggressive person but I can be very driven and very persevering when I really want some thing I have attributed that to the Cancerian desire nature and Mars in Cancer. I have a baudy and " bent " sense of humor ( Mars conj Uranus I assume) . I am not easily shocked . I think the Mars gets watered down in Cancer and is in it's Fall or detroment ( can't recall which )
Cheers,
S

My almost 8 yo has dreams like that. They don't happen very often, but she winds up sleeping with me when they do.
She has a Mars/Uranus conjunction in Aquarius in the 5th, opposite her Leo Moon.

A few months ago on the "whats you fave astrology book" thread several people suggested Astrology, Karma and Transformation by Stephen Arroyo. So I finally got around to reading it a few days ago.
Last night I was stunned by a seemingly offhand remark on pg. 124 regarding the dynamic aspects of Mars and Uranus:
"I have often wondered if these aspects are not in many cases a carryover from past lives' experience of warfare or from the person having been trained in extreme forms of physical or psychological harshness."
I have a natal Mars/Uranus square and since very early childhood have been haunted by intense dreams and even waking visions of war. My mother can attest to my childhood war stories.
Anyway, after reading that I just thought "damn..." I had to put it down and go to sleep on that idea.
Anyone else have Mars/Uranus stuff? ~or~ Anyone else who read that book have a "damn..." moment. (I've had few others but that one was the biggest so far.)
