So Venus is about to go retrograde on October 8th.  The retrograde will backslide in Scorpio into Libra. In fact the retrograde "shadow" period begins on September 5th.  Yikes!  Just three days away!

Venus retro is a period where we get to re-evaluate our personal relationships. Its supposed to be a really bad time to start a new relationship or to get married.  But, old lovers may come back into your life.  Venus in retro is supposed to help us shine a light on what's working and what's not working. From what I've been reading on the boards, many of us have been experiencing some challenges in relationships.

I don't know about you but I am sick of all of this re-view, re-hash, re-gurgitate stuff! I'm ready to move forward and feel stalled right now.

What are you going to do during the Venus Retrograde? Have you been thinking about this yet?

Here Here!  I am more than ready to start moving in a forward motion.  I've been hoping for months that things would get better.  I must admit that things are better, more of a truce state, but better. But I don't want to live in a truce...I want to move forward.

I've been thinking this week about how summer will be ending soon.  As far as I can see, I can't wait for it to be over.  I think this has probably been the worst summer of my life.  I'm hoping fall will be a better season for me.

I don't know anyone who's having a rollicking good time right now. Everyone is knee deep in big personal issues.  Grand cross...but then we get about two weeks of respite after some of the currently retro planets go direct on Sept 14th but then on Oct 8th, Venus goes retro.

Well... I've ended a relationship & want to move forward but as it's not a great time to start something new, then I'm stuffed, right? As far as bringing an ex back into your life? If I'd wanted an ex in my life, they would still be there!

Also fallen in a financial heap so guess I'm stuffed there too.

You know I was thinking the whole way through June, July & August that yeah, things may be tough but the BIG problem is that we'll be dealing with the effects & fall out for Hell knows how long.... years! THAT is the ultimate bad.

I hear ya mahchi... sick to death of all the "re's" SICK OF IT!!!

& stacey... I'm so sorry you've had a shit Summer & hope there's alot of crap behind you now that you'll never have to face again.

chrispito... I read art 'with so me tart' lol!!!

bluelily, where you have found your stamina I do not know, but half your luck!!!!!!

    Crap Crap Crap =(

@McKenna - I guess the way to look at it is that if you know the retrograde is coming and you want to start something, that's okay, just know that it's not going to last.  maybe that's what you want!  But it sounds kind of sombre through the retro period.  I'm hoping Elsa is going to do a transit watch on it!  Theo did write about in his posts - he gives lots of good advice on how to cope through the grandcross period (Which lasts YEARS! ugh.)

@mahchi.. thanks for that but if I start something I'm always looking to make it last. It's worse if I come accross someone I really like & have that "Yeah... it ain't going nowhere" thing in the back of my head. May as well not start it!

I think Astrology is a blessing, I really do, because you can usually find ways to "push" or drive negatives in a more positive way (because you are aware) but at the same time, some things you just can't get around... like Merc Rx =(

Will have to check out what Theo said... need all the help we can get, right?! Thanks for pointing that out.

Well... I wish you luck in trawlling throught it all anyway! We don't have much choice but to deal.

I don't know... I am not looking forward to it. This 14th degree start of the Rx is happening too close for comfort to my 17th degree Scorp Moon and 19th degree Scorp Asc. The only ex that I have is the abusive one and I don't need him popping back into my life. I don't need to re-evaluate anything I had with him - I re-evaluated it for almost 2 years, considering whether to leave or not. What I need is to move on but I guess this Venus so close to the important points of my chart will want me to go over it, again. I wish Venus would give me a break! I really can't see any way how it could turn out to be good for me.

I am right there with your guys.  I am enjoying some down time these last couple of weeks and at the end of next I start back to school and ready to tackle a new school year.   Venus is the weakest planet in my chart and I am not in a relationship right now, and not quite ready for one yet.  So maybe this get me thinking about being in one. The thing that is *pissing* me* off is now as I talk about starting my new school year, my family keeps asking me if I am going to take my ex back.  WTF,  I mean HELLO has no one been paying attention to what I've saying, doing, I don't even bring it up or talk about it.  They just seem to think I should be in a relationship and since I'm not, then I should settle and just take him back.   So frustrated of not being seen or heard by them.  So yeah,  let's just get on with this crap.

    @ Daisy what does

Venus is the weakest planet in my chart

    mean?

I am too naive to be afraid of the retrograde. I have no Idea what to expect. it will be in my first house and it will make what I naively consider to be only good aspects. I was actually looking forward to venus in scorpio as a relief point. I have a lot of neptune....lol The week of October 8th Saturn conjunct Pluto and Square venus will be exact for me. So I thought the venus transit would help lighten my load. Am I kidding myself? I have a lot of neptune so I do that a lot....LOL

Its giving me chills - the thought that things could get a lot more heavy in that time - deep cleansing or destroying.  I've had enough re-s as well just want to move forward. too much anger & toxicity at the moment. had enough of rehashing stuff in my head - I just want to be able to be content & peaceful but it just happens in small bursts then  the cycle begins again.

Venus retro will be my 1st house - I all ready know what I will be doing - the usual.  Work, school, running around like a nut with all of my daughter's activities.

I guess I will try to be aware when it is retro to hold off on being ultra-bitchy.

    @bluelily... isn't that a little dangerous?  WoW!

@scorpiomoongirl... yeah... sounds like torture by degrees. like you just keep getting "bouts". But you're becoming more & more detached & less & less effected as you go from one bout with him to the next! That's a GOOD thing, right? You're healing! But yeah, be better if he just went "poooof!" & disappeared =)

@daisy... they'll change their tune when you find Superman!!! Don't get down. Besides... families just love to give you grief sometimes... think that's what they're THERE for!!!

@toomuchpluto... hey! Just because WE are all lamenting the fact dosn't mean you have to! You know, this WILL be good for some people... you might just be one of them... keep looking forward to it.... work on the "I'm thinkin positive therefor I will only bring good stuff into my life" mantra. I'd feel rotten if we rained on your parade!

@uzmi... hugs right back at ya =(

    @Dorothy... you never seem ultra-bitchy!! =)

@tmp my Venus has only one aspect to it, a semi-square to jupiter.  He is the low man on the totem pole of hierarchy.   Nothing answers to him, and he doesn't even have the privledge of being a singleton.

Dorothy, Oh I see thanks. Its so funny my venus has plenty aspects. Good and BAD.........Jeeze!

It gets a lot of help but it needs it. I still have an extremely difficult time forming and maintaining relationships. That Saturn venus is BRUTAL. It sucks the life out of every thing.

@Daisy: According to Ptolemy: Only the MAJOR ASPECTS (Conj./Sex./Square/Trine/Opp.) are to be considered.

So, your Venus would have a Ptolemaic quality and, therefore, WOULD BE considered as a singleton.  You would have to focus on this more to see how it is manifesting in your life.  Planets with this quality truely are maverick.  Clues to be found in the everyday living.

I, too am sick of all the "re's", and feeling so stalled and blocked in relationships.  By the middle of this retrograde, venus will trine my Sun/sextile my moon/jup conjunction and end by squaring my merc/mars conjunction in the 1st.  I'm wondering if this means that no matter what I do my actions (mars) and communications (merc) towards finding harmony (venus) will not be taken the right way (retrograde)???

Oh well, it's fall, the heat broke and I'm in a constant good mood, maybe I"ll just go enjoy the world myself and leave all the "re's" to "stew".

Re: "Re".  Can you imagine if Kings(Sun) and Queens(Moon) were to never retrograde??  Eclipse??

Venus Scorpio retro in the 12th.  Great for artists.  I call it the "sitting in shit" placement.  Sitting in your own shit is the best way to have perspective.

Can you say lonely??  Sometimes we spend so much time loving the other that we forget about ourselves.  Perhaps, this is the pain of the price we pay for negligence.

We can never take ourselves out of this picture called life.  Venus retrograde is then a friendly "re"-"minder".  Retrograde periods allow us to dissect silence to find our own true sound.  Can you say "music"??

    Listen.

I will work, work, work. I will impose more structure and balance in my life. I will be attentive to other people. I will really listen. I have no desire for the foolish rehashing in my love life. If there is repetition in that area I'm outta the relationship.

Venus retrograde has created a space for me to finally say and reveal how I FEEL to my past lovers.    I've had 2 confrontations with old loves.  One was the father of my child Taurus with a Pisces rising and Moon in Scorpio, I finally asked him why he choose to stay away and not support his little girl for the last 5 years (she's 8) and his answer was, I guess that was my Karma (He lives with his guru and has not had a job for the last 5 years).  Again not taking any responsibility for his actions/I lost it.  That is your Karma?  I quickly lost my top! This person has not taken any responsibility on how his absence may have effected her , and now that he comes in to her life, he doesn't even have an apology?  I let the anger roll through...and gave him a verbal bashing on how he was not a grown man.  Another ex.  Won't let go...and keeps forgetting on how he didn't want to commit even while I was living with him.  Now I'm gone, happy, and living my life without him, and the empty nest syndrome is driving him batty...triple Pisces with Aries Venus and Mars in Scorpio and I cut all communication.  But he can't take a soft push, so I had to cut him to the bone, and tell him that the police will be called (he has a habit of showing up unexpected)so he would get the picture.  Both men needed a clear and cut Boundary from me.    I now feel a clean slate, How I feel has been revealed, and all facts where used.  Not only on how I felt but how things played out.  So either they get it or they don't but it no longer is my problem...KARMA ....!

Was born under venus retrograde and I've never been very invested in how venus impacts my chart as pluto and neptune energies kind of obliterate everything else.

It will be in my 12th and I will be doing lots of hospital/institutional type things for my mother.

What about cosmetic changes, you guys?  No haircuts, hem, cosmetic procedures or new clothes?

Are you guys planning to not date at all or if you do have something on your plate you won't let it become something serious?

Is Venus in retrograde a time to get back with an ex or simply to learn from it?

This is going to hit my Natal Venus, so I just had to check the last time Venus went retrograde in Scorpio. That was back in October / November 2002. Definitely didn't see any old lovers return.

At work, someone I worked with didn't get her contract renewed because of what I had heard her saying to a business associate months before. Apparently, she had thought the "new girls" (another colleague and I) wouldn't have guts to blow the whistle. But I did and the other "new girl" confirmed my story. Our boss didn't appreciate what he heard. He took his time to act, and when he did, the girl was completely blindsighted. The Cappy girl who replaced her proved a very loyal employee (she's still with the company 8 years on). I know, because even if I'm not, she also became a dear friend of mine.

@toomuchpluto... thanks for the link, some great information in there =)

As I was having a whinge earlier about starting a new relationship under this influence, I found the following interesting...

" While we can readily distinguish the problems in a current relationship, this will not be true of a relationship formed while Venus is retrograde. Because the retrograde motion alters our perspective, we are unable to see the obvious and we can too easily misread the signals. Before eloping or making wedding plans, wait until Venus turns direct to get a balanced perspective. This Venus does not imply deception but rather a distorted perspective and attitude. Faulty presumptions can be easily made. For example, if you meet someone at the tennis court, it does not necessarily mean that the person likes tennis. Maybe that person was simply there to pick up a friend! These presumptions can cause erroneous evaluations and eventual disappointment when we discover that the person of our dreams is not what we thought at all!"

Problem solved, I'll just stay away from sports centers *wink*

@Dina... I might be tempted to have a haircut (for a trim ONLY, I wouldn't be interested in going for a radical change) or buy clothes, but there is NO way I'd be up for any cosmetic procedures, that's for sure. & it's not that I wouldn't date, it's just that it puts a necessary damper on the "hope" factor. I've read a few reports now saying to enjoy the ride, but not to think the realtionship would last =( As far as ex situations go, I'll leave that for someone else to coment on, I know it's a great time to talk things over, but I'm not sure if it's an auspicious time to re-launch anything with them. Hmmm

So you really think it's a bad time to relaunch something with an ex?

How are you guys doing so far?  Is Venus stationary now?  Probably not.

I'm feeling it already.  The one night stand guy texted me today to tell me good Rosh Hashanah, and of course my thought was please, please say something else.  (Read: Ask me out again).  I have no pride.

For me, Venus in retrograde is a time of sharp unlovable feelings.  I break out.  And the unlovable feeling is irritating, but doesn't feel unreasonable.  I think Venus in Scorpio will exacerbate it.  The acid attack thing seems like a Venus in retrograde thing, acrid attack on beauty.

And for me, Scorpio is in my 9th house.  It has nothing to do with sex.  Hunker down and learn.

By cosmetic procedure, I meant waxing (TMI).  Venus isn't in retrograde for a month, right?  So I am going to try to date as much as I possibly can, and do you think that starting something now might function/last through the retrograde?  Even try to get a haircut this weekend.  There's a New Moon in Virgo, but these are the things I'm thinking of.

I keep going over my feelings for someone...it seems that this coming retrograde is having a early effect on me. Their feelings have not changed, but a psychic told me that something will in October thru January that will make him change his mind about me...we shall see...if not I need to really get into some deep self transformation with yoga and re balance myself from all I have gone through with this Grand Cross, that has taken me into realms so fast and into those places I thought I would never go. Hopefully, Venus will be kind and help me get back my equalibrium!

Theo (wall)    USA   Sun in Capricorn, Moon in Cancer, ASC/Pisces, Mercury/Saturn in Aquarius, Venus/Sagittarius, Mars in Leo, Jupiter Rising in Pisces, Neptune in Scorpio, Uranus/Pluto in Virgo

My experience with Venus retrogrades as an astrologer shows a time to take things slow, and not get involved in any dramas over this cycle.

Venus will turn to morning star by the end of October/early November, and will have been retrograde since Oct. 8 until stationing direct November 18. It is a good time to continue to review personal matters, relationships, and redirection of life, and career.

Mars is also involved with Venus this year, as they will have conjoined three times since Aug. 2010 (Libra) then on Oct 3 (Scorpio) and finally in Taurus (May 23) - so this particular Venus/Mars cycle strongly influences the time between now and next May 2011.

Expect to see, and hear of emotional problems, especially among females, with the more physical manifestations of Scorpio also expressed by Mars' energies and need for control.

Sadly, some people will act out, pettiness is quite common, lies, also taking emotional slights in social situations where there are none, or, where head-games are played for no good reason other than to project one's problems onto others whom one does not like.

Venus Rx works against all this, and realigns relationships for those who are keen to notice that it is perhaps time to get some new friends, and to be more objectively distant as well to protect oneself as Saturn transits Libra and Scorpio over the next five (5) years.

Going over feelings is a good thing as long as it is done practically, and with no drama. One of the best things to do over a Venus Rx is to spend time with oneself, working on ideas for next year, and to avoid anything that resembles personal dramas playing out over the next several months.

Immaturity, jealousies, gossip, head games, mis-communications of feelings, etc., come a dime a dozen during Venus Rx, particularly in Scorpio, so think before speaking or acting. Those who take part in such negative behaviors will only have themselves to blame by April/May.

It's not a good time to "relaunch" relationships with any ex - of course, that won't stop some people from doing just that; however, with these transits, things are bound to not turn out as expected, with disappointments galore, and too much drama on top of it to boot.

These transits show that sexual contact is unfavorable for the most part during October to mid-November. Venus Rx can lead to unprotected sex, and transmission of disease, so it's not a time to really be sexually active as the passionate inclinations will be heightened. Better to play it safe through the Venus/Mars cycle conjunctions this year and into next.

The idea is to simply work on oneself without the need to have another to accomplish this, plus, the Venus Rx asks us to look forward - not back - and those who do will be much better equipped to handle the transits of 2011 than those who are not.
