Virgo the Neatfreak - do you relate?

I have Saturn and Jupiter in Virgo. Saturn is in the 6th house, squaring Neptune while Jupiter is in the 5th conj. my Mars in Leo and opp. mercury in Pisces. I find that I cannot perform any kind of mental activity until my surroundings are neat and orderly.

The thing is, this "neatness" stuff did not start until I was 21 when I moved out of home for the first time. Before I was 21, my Mom and I would have fights over cleaning my room and the entire house. I was a total slob... While growing up, I was so convinced I was unfeminine because "cleanliness" was a part of being a woman (in Filipino culture).

After graduating university, I found myself struggling at work - my focus was off and my messy desk would usually drive me crazy - so I would be crazily cleaning it before I start work (work then becomes very smoothsailing after that). I used to be ok while I was studying in school, although I was known to rewrite my notes multiple times because they were so messily done (and surprisingly, that is also how I remember the content).

I discovered that my brain tends to feel "fuzzy" - especially when I see "mess" or distractions in various places. Later on, I found out that this was a symptom of adult ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), which I was diagnosed much later.

When my Saturn return arrived (in Virgo), I was an even more militant neatfreak - specifically during its peak. I did find that after I did a very deep cleaning and a very deep organizing in my apartment, I finally found a clear direction in the life I choose to live as an adult.

    Does anyone relate?

i like order around me, yeah. But it can also be procrastiination --  meaning that i'll think i can't do ANYTHING until.. whatever....

But YES, i think better, function better, with my own brand of order. I've been staying with a friend for a couple months while i'm between apartments. She is double taurus/virgo moon and is deeply deeply cluttered (to me), a huge amt of stuff with no rhyme or reason. She says she knows where everything is and I believe her.

The clutter made me a little batty but get used to it. Still, my new place will be small but clutter free...

I have virgo rising, virgo moon, vesta conjunct my virgo rising...

Also, i don't really like to clean (at least, i didn't when i had a big apartment) but i like things TO BE clean :)

btw,  i definitely don't categorize myself as a neatfreak or a germ-o-phobe or anal. But... I may lack self-awareness about this. You make me want to ask my friends. My messiest friend is a Gemini.... I mean, old food (banana peels for instance) lying around on countertops for DAYS

annne ortelee (an astrologer) once said that there are clean virgos and messy virgos....

i'm sorry to be writing so many little posts but i keep having more ideas! It is very healing? spiritually cleansing to clean or have a clean place. Whether one does a conscious ritual or not -- my world, my apt, my mind, does feel different and better after things are clean and smelling nice.... Okay, no more virgo comments

lol moonpluto! That's actually quite insightful!

Easily, the "cleaning" is a form of procrastination - at least for me. As a creative, I'm forced to "produce" something out of nothing (well, ok, on occasion) and I usually have a hard time doing this - even when I'm under the gun! Cleaning DOES clear my head though - as if it's some form of meditation of some kind and eventually the idea just comes to me... maybe because I'm an Aries. Ideas come to me when I'm in motion.

Your double Virgo friend reminds me of my partner. He's a Scorpio Sun/Leo Moon/Taurus Asc and a whole lot of Libra and he is MESSY! HOWEVER... He is surprisingly very organized! He knows where everything is and there is a system to his "mess." Surprisingly I learned the system very quickly. It's much more easy to learn it than my wannabe "organized" ADD household.

My messiest friends are mainly Geminis and Pisces. I want to think it's because Gemini is generally "scattered" (not necessarily in a bad way) and Pisceans are a bit "spacey" (again, I kinda like this about them since I'm unusually drawn to Pisceans). I offered to organize my Gemini friend's closet once because she complained she didn't have enough clothes but really... it was just all over the place!

As for messy Virgos... My best friend, also an organization/neatfreak like myself who is also messy has this tendency. He can't be bothered to sweep the floor (neither can I but since Saturn Return, dirty floors have been getting on my nerves). He isn't the most thorough cleaner, but he is organization-obsessed! His stuff is labeled, his notes are posted on different corkboards, he has organized to-do lists... Wow, it's almost impressive. And yet, he can't be bothered thoroughly wiping down spills or sweeping and mopping floors or doing his dishes in time. I guess with Virgo it's all about what they prioritize. In his case, he values work. In my case, it's important to me to have a relaxing home (Cancer Moon sextile Saturn in Virgo).

Luna: I don't know about other Pisces, but I'm messy because cleaning doesn't fit into my fantasy world. Sorry. There are a million other things I could be daydreaming about rather than that and the only way I've got a broom in my hand is if it's too disgusting to let continue on or if I'm fantasizing/pretending I'm Cinderella. :D

Mr. Gemini has a moon in Virgo. He can get just as slobby as I can, but when it comes to his personal passions (stereo equipment, ham radio equipment, tools, whatever), he's organized and neat.

He may leave six piles of things that don't belong in the living room sitting there on the floor for a month and a half, but they're ORGANIZED piles and out of the way, damn it.

yes, i relate to needing my surroundings clean. i've cleaned under my sink and in my spice cupboard instead of finishing assignments before. probably not what you're getting at.

but i've always thought that if i am going to faff about not getting a job done, i may as well make that activity cleaning.

jupiter in 6th opposing neptune. delusions get blown up into grandiose schemes of productivity.

oh, and that comment is very deceptive. i clean everything and i mean EVERYTHING but not with frequency...

eg. on the weekend i cleaned my bathroom and i actually cleaned the toilet brush holder and the garbage can too. if i do a job i do it right. which means i only do it once in a while, ha ha ha

    The piggiest people I know:

    Taurus Sun/Capricorn Moon/Gemini ASC (man)

    Scorpio Sun/Capricorn Moon/Aries ASC (woman)

    Virgo Sun/Virgo Moon/ASC unknown (woman)

...we're talking dried up food on the counter and cigarette ash all over the floor piggy.

Luci: It seems to work out with you guys being Pisces and Gemini and not being too bothered by mess :) I like how you say that cleaning is not in your fantasy world! I believe that's how it is with a few of my Piscean friends!

I find it interesting how people are great at leaving "organized piles".. My partner does this too and for some reason, it works. I'm amazed! And yes - Mr. Gemini sounds like my partner too in a sense because my partner is very careful and thoroughly clean with his bikes, but not with everything else.

Kash: WHAT? clean the TOILET BRUSH? Wow - that's quite neatfreaky! I've done something similar but only as far as spraying and disinfecting my garbage cans (and polishing them all shiny because they're chrome-coloured). Do you do the cleaning as a form of procrastinating too, you think?

Interesting how two of the piggest people you know are Capricorn Moons... and the other a Virgo moon. I'm quite surprised, actually because I keep thinking that earth signs are the biggest neatfreaks around!

And Aries Ascendant being messy? No freakin' doubt. I've been messy for YEARS and it wasn't until Saturn returned when I started becoming a neatfreak.

I have four planets in virgo and I honestly don't give a shit anymore. Mabe it's the saturn transit over all these planets or my asc moving into Sag but I spend about two-three hours home a day that I'm not sleeping and I can't be bothered. There is always something more interesting to do and cleaning is such a waste of time. It will be back to mess tomorrow = useless activity. I don't LIKE it particularly but I don't care enough to fret.

Ever watch that show Hoarders? Now that is some messed up control freak weirdness. At least I'm not that bad.

I had a boyfriend for three years with Virgo Mars and his house was spartan.  He was also mean about it, like he tried to make me feel bad about myself for not sweeping everyday. Asshole.

The most disgusting person I know has a packed twelfth house with retro action (Scorp Sun, Scorp Pluto, Retro Scorp Venus, Retro Libra Merc)  Venus Square Mars (Aqua) and Sag moon.  I don't remember what else....

I used to live with her and she would leave pork chops on the floor.  She still lives in total squalor.  She is a self defined "creative type" but I have seriously never seen her get her shit together to actually create anything.  Depressing.

This is a hilarious topic!  I have three Virgo planets, and I'm a slob.  I used to be a lot worse, but now, the pigginess comes in the form of clutter.

I have weird quirks about keeping the house clean.  I don't like housework, but I go into small "cleaning frenzies" when everything around me is too chaotic.  Having kids does not help alleviate the chaos one bit.

My biggest pet peeve is food left all over the place.  It gives me the skeeves like nothing else.  My kids know it bothers me, but they do it anyway.  I'm in the den every day sweeping up food they leave around.

I could be a better housekeeper, but I've seen worse, and the Virgo in me wonders how people can live like that.

Lis: Yes, cleaning frenzies. This is what I mean by "The only time I've got a broom in my hand is if it's too disgusting to let continue".

I'll wake up and simply be sick of living like a pig and I make everything spotless...and then continue to go back to the orginal slobby routine!

my ex mother in law told me about her father in law...he came over to visit. at the end of the visit he used the bathroom, came out and said "well your house is nice and clean but the inside of the toilet cistern is too dirty."

when's the last time you cleaned the inside of the back of the toilet?

oh, and i don't clean the toilet briush holder often. we're talking every 6 months. i use hot water and bleach for most everything and i know bleach is bad for aqua-life so i limit that stuff to a few times a year, tops.

i definitely procastinate. but it's clutter that gets me feeling stressed more than actual dirt.  my roommate was away for 2 weeks and i got the house sorted when she was gone. then she brought in a whole bunch of stuff (japanese pin ball anyone?) that has no where to go (our apt. is tiny) and i'm just like...AHHHH! WTF? now it's back to piles of stupid useless shit everywhere.

oh well. she's great to live with regardless.

notatirem my ex and i had ongoing battles about housework. he would get pissed off if i left dishes in the sink but he never and i mean never cleaned up his spills properly.

but he did show me how cramming all my clothes in the dresser was preferable to having them strewn around the place. even if it caused meltdowns in the a.m.

I do that clean/slobby back and forth.

LOL this thread reminds me of when I was about 18 and a musician and living with the drummer and guitar player in our band. I came home and thought, oh [drummer] finally did the dishes. Then I looked out in the back yard & he just moved them out onto the driveway.

I have a Virgo Moon in H9 which is an indication of teaching skill. This is something I feel I was born to do and I'm at college working towards it now. I also have Saturn (the teacher planet) conjunct Ascendant and Sun in 3rd, the 3rd/9th axis is an academic one so when I speak of my Virgo Moon it relates to occupation in my case.

It's 8 degrees Virgo, not sure what that degree represents. It's the most elevated planet and the nearest to the M.C arrow. It's aspects to other planets are: Square Uranus H1, trine Neptune) I am critical of all media forms and cannot 'just' read a book or watch a film I have to devour it's meaning.

I have Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and my MC all in Virgo. I clean my house every week. Usually it takes me 2 days I pick 2 things the first day and then I do the rest of it the next day. Same routine every week. I do laundry every other day and rarely ever leave anything in the dryer and never in the washing machine. I have to fold things as soon as they are dry because I hate wrinkles. I guess chaos doesn't work for me. I can't function in dirt. We never leave dishes in our sink. I wipe my kitchen counters off constantly. and sweep all the time. My Father in laws dog stayed with us for a week last year. OMG I freaked because I didn't want dog smell in my house. I think if it were my own dog probably wouldn't of done that so bad. LOL but someone elses pet made me nuts!

My husband has Sun, moon, saturn and AC in Virgo. He's a shower spaz. LOL Probably showers 2 times a day. Washes his hands compulsively. Which I can't argue with. I respect a man who is clean. I couldn't  handle any unpleasant smells. I'm the type that walks by someone in the store and gag because they smell like a whore house, or they just don't even cover up the stank that is going on. I am really obvious about it to. I can't help it. It's like take a friggin shower will ya? LOL  Cologne doesn't hide the fact that your ass is DIRTY! haha

By the way my husband is a total pack rat. I have to force him every 6 months to give up things he just doesn't need or use. That's probably the biggest problem between the 2 of us. I won't let him clean my house either. I'd probably kill him hahahaha

I must be a study in contrasts.

    sun/moon/venus/mars in,

I'm a neat messy pack rat. I know where all my shit is, my house is clean, and I"m a pack rat that has everything organized, I collect stuff like vintage buttons, weird shit to use in my art projects someday. It's all organized and I can get my hands on it at any time.

I have 10 things going at once. I'm an info junkie. I have 2 dogs (small and relatively odor free) and I wipe them down after they come in from their walk with lavendar doggie wipes.

My house is lived in. It's a busy house. I don't invite people over much unless they are understanding and i hate it when people ambush me and show up unanncounced. This is my space and I'll live in as I damn well please. So keep your judgements and b.s. out of my orbit.

Hubby does go on tangents while I'm sleeping and cleans up the kitchen counter (ground Zero) and then I get pissed off when I can't find anything.

I have a very sensitive sense of smell and can smell a bad fart from the other end of the house even before it enters my airspace at the opposite end. I have a very expensive air purifier that gets rid of anything in the air not necessary to human life. I'm a creative soul and I will not apologize for it.

I am so house proud that I put Martha Stewart to shame, (without the felony conviction.)

Oh and to further complicate things, I'm a certified Feng Shui consultant.

My dogs have taught me not to sweat the small stuff. If the rugs aren't vacuumed it's not the end of the world.  Keep it clean, keep it smelling nice, keep your piles tidy and categorized.. That's my  brand of Obsessive/Compulsiveness. Everybody is different you know, even sun signs.

I have Venus in Virgo and strange patterns when it comes to cleanliness.I really hate dirt like left over food and snotty tissues left lying around. That is just nasty. But,I am a Libra Sun so I am relatively lazy  and do not like to get my hands dirty though, so sometimes I leave deep cleaning till the last minute until I am just disgusted and cannot function.

I have moon/mars in Cancer so I hoard. But the funny thing is clutter tends to make me agitated and I cannot think straight if it is visible. When I am depressed it gets very bad.Hence my need to keep clearing it a little at a time.My closet is usually stuffed, but I feel okay if my counter tops are orderly.I absolutely cannot stand filth when I am sick.Clean sheets make me instantly happy especially when they smell good. They are a neccessity when I am not feeling well or else I get moody and depressed and lash out at anyone near me.But...you guessed it...I always wait till last minute to do laundry!

All in all, I think other people's mess is less tolerable to me.I always find myself asking how they can live like that.I have a girlfriend with three little ones and her apt. is just always grimy.I sometimes can't stand to be there.Something about the children being there makes me so uneasy although that is probably one of the reasons it is difficult for her to keep it clean.I don't want to offend her by offering to clean up, but I do find myself judging her for that.Okay..now I'm rambling.

Wow you guys have such interesting stories! :P I guess you can say this is a pretty funny topic although I've noticed with so many Virgos in my life that they're such clean/organization freask - well it's either one or the other!

Lee: I relate to your husband lol! I'm a shower spaz myself. I soap myself twice or three times per shower. I will even shower twice a day if I want. And recently since going freelance, I've been showering every morning to wake me up and get me in "work mode" and later at night so I can sleep better.

Mimi mottet: You just made my day! OMG that was funny!

    Lee: you too!

I have moon in Virgo and I can't help but notice smells in other peoples houses. And when someone is oblivious to just common sanitation (one needs to go above mere cleanliness sometimes) it just drives me beserk! Case in point: I lived with someone once who never washed their vegetables, handled raw food and let it drip all over stuff and then touch all the knobs on the stove and other surfaces. They left their dishes in the sink for a week and wouldn't wash them, and lived in absolute squaller in their room. DISGUSTING! I would run around cleaning with Lysol sheets as soon as i could. Also things like a disorganized placement of things in the dishwasher, knives sticking up etc. Just unacceptable! But ironically, I clean in spirts but when I do it's thorough. And my desk might look like a mess, but I know where everthing is!

One of the messy Virgos here checking in. Just to give more of a voice to this. - Not enough people who are into astrology understand that Virgos CAN be messy. (I'm Virgo sun, uranus, and pluto.) I need freedom! Cleaning up all the time and putting order to things is restricting to me. And I'd never ask it of others - you want to be messy, go ahead. I can think very well with absolute chaos surrounding me.

My mother has a Virgo moon and is a much bigger neatfreak than I am. Growing up, she used to leave something like a tissue on the staircase to see if I would pick it up, and when I didn't, she would fume for weeks, and bring it up in various chastising sessions for months. I just didn't get it. Just didn't understand why cleaning up was supposed to be one of the main lessons for parents to impart - I really thought she was missing the boat on a whole lot of more important things, come to think of it.

My worst time was living with a Cancer with Venus in Virgo. She would just freak out - absolute judgmental crabbiness - whenever I would do the dishes but not finish cleaning the counter. She didn't think it was worth cleaning anything unless you were going to clean it fully and completely. And in fact, she could live in complete filth, if she got moody and depressed (which was often), because her high standards prevented her from cleaning only partially. Oh, well.

Not me. I don't see the point of waiting until one's ready to do a huge job of cleaning. I never clean my house all at once. I do a little at a time, here and there, as I feel like it. So much freer - and also so much more likely to get done. I've always been satisfied with the cleanliness of the very great range of people I've lived with. It's not worth setting up impossible goals. As a result, my place always looks fairly clean.

As for organization, I have a reputation for it - but it's not at all true - with Sag rising, I like to fling things everywhere, and I can't read or find my messy written notes or files half the time. Life's too short to spend putting things in order. Unless I've decided to give up my dreams of doing anything in this lifetime... then I do console myself by putting order in my papers.

Sea, I'm the same way about cleaning...  I can't afford to waste time in huge chunks by taking on a "cleaning day".  On my weekends, between writing & proof-reading, I'll take a break every now and then to do a little piece of cleaning or a selected rep from my list of workouts, and then get back to work.  That way, I feel that I'm getting more into my day by doing these various things.  By the time Sunday night comes around I pat myself on the head for doing so much and say (like a master to his obedient dog) "Good boy!  Gooood boyyyyy!"  :D

I'm virgo venus and rising and I love order and neatness but am prone to messy spells where everything is just out of hand and I can't get it together.

Right now, my house is pretty damn clean - but still not perfect. I found out recently that my mom's method of cleaning doesn't work in the real world. She won't start a project unless she's ready to do it start to finish. With life and all its interruptions, that will get you nowhere fast.

I've adopted the "clean as you go" method recently. It's really the best one yet.

Lunalie, I am a Virgo Sun/Jup/Sat and relate to needing a clean space to think/work. I am an excellent organizer and in a shared living situation, I basically very neat and a great organizer.

Here's the catch. If I have my own room it is usually a disaster of clothes strewn on the floor, etc. I don't get it. It feels like a Neptune thing though...that familiar fog. I have Nep on the Asc. conj. Moon. and square my Virgo planets. I don't know but it drives me crazy. Trying to put away my stuff feels like trying to move through heavy mud.

So I will not mess up "your" stuff, but I have a serious clothing fog.

My ex was had Virgo on the Asc trine Saturn and conj. Pluto. He had little labeled drawers with everything from Q-tips to screws labeled by size. I simultaneously loved and was creeped out by this!
