I work from about 5 in the morning until 8 at night but take off at will and generally limit consults to between the hours of about 6:30 am - 5 pm. But if you order a report or such, I'm going to send it to you within an hour, usually, during my waking hours.
I work afternoons & evenings, specifically because I'm a night person & I don't function at all well in the mornings. I HATE them..., every one.
All the things I do for work now allow me these hours & I am very grateful for that!!
i get up in the morning anytime between 5 and 8.. depending on the type of day ahead of me, how much has to be done, what has to be done and where. of course, holidays are the hardest starting as early as possible and going until the day is long done and over.. but i tend to finish up work anytime between noon and 8pm...
so yeah.. i guess i don't have a set schedule! lol
Retirement has it's perks, so I pick and choose when I decide to move.
However we are in the process of buying a house with a huge garage so I can dabble in wood work, I like to build chest's and bookcases, ect.
When I get all hot and stuff Annalisa will bring me a big glass of lemonaid and we will sit on the porch swing and laugh at life.........
I work 8 to 5, weekends and holidays off. When I have to take work home I end up working from around 11pm to 1230ish, after I am done with my household duties for the night. I like my regular work schedule I guess since it's close to what school schedule was. Evenings and weekends are MINE, if I had to work theem id probably feel very oppressed lol
I work 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and have Wed/Thurs/Fri off. This is a result of the HR at work giving me an "accommodation" for my back problems -- my doctor had written them a letter asking that my work hours be from 8:30 to 5 or earlier, so I could go to physiotherapy in the early evening. Unfortunately, HR has been less than helpful in this regard and is forcing me to jump through more and more hoops just to have an ergonomic workstation.
My hours mean that I can't pursue activities like night classes, etc. which would allow me to meet people outside of work. I would love to have a normal day job with weekends off for that reason, although I'm a night owl by nature.
24/7/365. SAH moms never get down time. ![]()
I get up at 7am, drive 45 minutes to be at work for 8:30, and then work until 5pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
Mr. Gemini works 3pm to 11pm Thursday and Friday, 4pm to 11pm Saturday and 3pm to midnight on Sunday.
I used to work second shift with him (that's how we met) and I LOVED those hours. I'm not a morning person and I'm a night owl like woah. Those hours are totally love for me.
I think, for me, the question should be, what hours DON'T you work? LOL! Most days, I get up and roll on thru the day tackling one thing after another ;) Usually after dinner (so somewhere between 6 & 7 pm I'll stop for the day. There are days, though that I'll try to fit in a few more things 'before bed' (between 7-10pm),

I work 8-5... but I can't wait to be a housewife and work CONSTANTLY WITH NO BREAKS OR VACATIONS! That was a little bit of sarcasm, and a little bit of bitterness. You know, towards those children I don't even have yet.
I have 4 different shifts . 9.30 -4pm, 1-9pm, 9-4pm and 11-6 pm, so it's ok variation, I miss temp some times, even more flex....and vac whenever I liked. If I sleep all night , my up time is all day, so it does not matter. My work efficiency relies more on the costumers, if there are few I get tired:)
Revising my answer slightly: I have six hours or so of downtime, but even then, I'm on call.
With Saturn rolling through my 6th (he's now on my DSC but will return briefly when Rx), I've gotten more than my share of calls to take sick kids home. The most recent one was a couple of weeks ago, when Mr. Cap had pneumonia.
Evening. They call it the graveyard shift, but I'd always imagined the graveyard shift to be evening, through midnight, into the early morning hours. I get off work at 11:30PM, so I don't consider that a graveyard shift.
What an interesting question! Loved everyone's posts too. For one of my part-time jobs, I'm there from 8:30 to 12:30, Monday thru Thursday, and I'm there until 4 on Fridays. I spend my afternoons working at home on my other two part-time jobs - I'm the City Auditor for the little town I live in, and I'm a member of a team that is conducting a huge plant survey for another Tribe. I also do Office Hours (11 am-2 pm) for the City Auditor position on Saturdays. And in my SPARE time, I'm working on a book.
I love what I do! And I'm busier than a chicken these days!
When my four boys were small, I had a full-time office job, a full-time volunteer cause I worked on for my people, and I was a mom and a wife. I did that for 25 years. Those were hectic and crazy days, so I hear you moms when you say you're working 24/7 -- you really do!
I can't wait to get Saturn out of my 6th!! It's been tough I've never had to "work" so much in my life LOL. Typical day is wake up around 6:30 - work from 8-5 - get home around 6, feed the baby, play with baby, put him to sleep - by the time that's all done it's around 9 and then I have chores to do around the house.. I enjoy the time with my son and wish I spent more with him but when it gets around to doing chores, I know it must be done but it exhausts me. Lately I've been having to work from home because we are shortstaffed so I am staying up til 1ish working and am going to bed around 2 - running on 4 hours of sleep every night is no joke! :/
@BlessedWhitney - I bet when the time rolls around you won't feel any bitterness :D. I hate having to work so hard doing household chores around the house after a LONG stressful day at work but it's only fair... my husband stays home and takes care of our son, I can't expect him to do everything...he cooks dinner, that's good enough for me :D. and the time spent taking care of my son, even if I was dying of overexhaustion every single day it is completely worth it :) :)
My hours are techinically 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday but I usually don't take lunches and stay until 6 or 7 pm. I also sometimes work weekends and I check my email even while on vacation. I stayed until 8:30 pm one night last week. It's been very busy.
Like VA said in #5 above..... Retirement has it's perks. But..... I'd rather have a job (even part time) to offset the many hours between sleep. Volunteer?? To me that's a four letter word.... especially if the "employer" is going to make $$$'s off my labor.
For the past year it's been 3pm-11pm for two shifts and then 11pm - 7am (graveyards!) for two shifts. It wrecked havoc on my sleeping schedule.
Just this month I've finally been able to switch to straight graveyards. It may be backwards to most people, but at least I can develop a routine now.
I don't really mind. The world is beautifully quiet at 4am.
interesting hours here! I have to agree that a stay at home mom gets no time off often! Once you have children there is no down time unless they go on visitation as my son did. I can find working and being a supportive wife very long hours too! Being in a relationship requires work too!
First thing on getting up in the morning: working on my home business, emails and orders
9-5 the Day job, someday I hope to have the resources to cut this down though
Right before and after dinner: more on the home business, emails and orders
Weekends, writing marketing stuff, blog posts, emails, orders, for the home business and working on the artwork for the next offering...
My hours change daily, as do my days off, but weekends and a day shift are laughed at in the sales world. We generally say, "if you want a schedule like that, you're in the wrong kind of work."
I work a combination of early morning to early afternoon, midday to early evening shifts, and later afternoon, to evening shifts. I work holidays except for Thanksgiving day, and Christmas, and if I have a weekend off, it's usually Saturday, and by special request, or for vacation.
Being something of an adaptable night owl, my schedule does work for me with the later days, as I am not awake, even if I'm at work until around 10am at best. I just sleep walk around the place before then. ;) But it would be nice to have a set schedule, and see how that affects my stress levels, sleep cycles, and social life.
Not until I finish college for a third time though! Must keep working at it for another year, and with Saturn in my 6th post SR, I don't anticipate the work load letting up anytime soon. Off shifts or not, I'm more grateful to have a job, than to wish it were something it's not, or to covet what someone else has.
I'm in a similar situation with Ad Astra. If there is work to be done and no one else can do it, you do it! Last week was crazy busy and then the incoming business on top of the in house business where two worlds collide. Sometimes I forget names because I've talked with 100 people on any given day....
We had the presidential debate, Itzhak Perlman, the Cubs ops just on my plate. Add contracts for bookings for a church group, a Tatoo show, baseball camps and 20 proposals for large conventions... This weekend there are three groups in house that I own and I left work at 6:30 pm because my brain was "full". I usually am up between 4:44 and 5. I never set an alarm usless I am taking a flight. I slept in today! 5:45!
I work 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. I wish work would start a bit later, as I am a Night Owl and like to stay up until around 1 AM and get up around 10. My ideal schedule would be to work from around 11 to 19. Currently, I am pretty useless before 10-11 anyway and just stumble around and try to look alerrt and awake. But I can't do anything about it, my schedule is fixed.
Large Banking/Mortgage Co. 7am-4pm. I do that because I live about 45 mins away from work, and the traffic is so much better than at any other time. Plus, its awesome to get off work at 4 on Friday!
I have to get up at 4:30 and I leave the house by no later than 6:15 to get there by 7.
M-TH-F 8:45-5:15
T-W 10:30-7
I usually don't work weekends but sometimes I do if needed. I am the senior clerk so I have really good hours.
Before working the pharmacy I worked in Housewares, and it was 2-11 pm and every weekend. So I totally understand my good fortune!
7-4 with an occasional 9-6 thrown in the mix, M-F + every other Sat :-p

I usually dance late morning and used to dance until early evening every day. Performing meant working nights and holidays and usually televison was shot live so I still worked late hours. VA worked early morning until the afternoon unless he was out to see when he would work all day and night. It got me wondering what sort of hours people work.
What hours do you work? Are you working during you "up time" or are you more awake at a different time?
I wonder how many people work 9 to 5.
