What sign do you learn most from?

I learn from Virgos the most, I need to make little things matter more. Being a Sagittarius, I am too broad of a thinker. I need to focus more on the trees in the forest once in a while, not just the whole forest!

Here is a conversation I had this spring with my Virgo friend.

Virgo: You know, Toni, you never care for detail very much do you?

Me (Toni): Well, that's why I get done with things faster than you.

Virgo: Half of the time, or a little less than half of the time you are faster than me. But I always get a better grade than you in school! Even if I finish after you, it's only about 2 or 3 minutes after you!

Me: Oh, yeah, like that time in 4th grade we had to build fences out of popsicle sticks and you got an A and I got a C+ for missing so many details?

Virgo: Exactly! If you only payed attention more to detail you would get A's! You're just as smart as me, but you miss alot when you just skim the surface.

Me: I guess you on the other hand need to relax.

Virgo: And you need to study more!

    Me: Hahaha.

So, what sign do you learn from most? Do you need to be more assertive like an Aries? More objective like an Aquarius? More patient like a Taurus? Or how about a Gemini's quick wit?

I definitely need to learn the most about "detachment" and that would be Aquarius I suppose.  It would be great to not have to spend so much time planning my revenge on, and the demise of everyone I think has fucked with me.  It is exhausting, believe me.

I think Pisces. Not sure what they teach me exactly, but I get the feeling it's something very important and I'm just completely missing the boat. Good question to ponder!

Pisces followed by Scorpio followed by Aquarius and Taurus.

I mostly learn from Earth signs!

I have way too much fire ... !!.. and water !

I need the persistence and the ability to walk one step at a time! Oh yes... and to pay more attention on detail :)

Ive taken a little something from everyone (Libra couldn't decide so included everyone to be fair.)

My old roommate, an Aries taught me that if I want to do something, then I should just do it.

A Taurus, a friend from high school gave me a really nice thank you card for the friendship I had given him and taught me the meaning of expressing gratitude.

My mother the Gemini has taught me countless things.  Most of them nonsense, but some of them quite profound.

My best friend, former roommate and Cancer taught me that whatever I choose to do, that's what I'm going to have to live with.  (She also has a bitchin' recipe for oatmeal cookies.)

A Leo, my sisters husband came to me in a dream (my 12th house is Leo) and showed me how to heal myself with my heart.

My triple Virgo friend taught me to read music.

Libra.  My ex boyfriend helped me develop more realistic expectations of other people.

The photographer/sculptor by day, surgical assistant by night Scorpio taught me that the art of anything is all about a feeling.

My Sagittarius boyfriend taught me to fish.

My old Capricorn boss showed me the "best way" to do a lot of things, like open a sealed box or mop a floor.

Aquarius Dad taught me "you'll find that life gets easier once you learn to make the intellect the master of the emotions and not the other way around." He also taught me to play cribbage, smoke cigarettes, make puns, dance an Irish jig, and generally not give a crap.

A tiny Pisces taught me that God can hear you.

    Virgo and Sagittarius for sure.

Virgo. Definitely Virgo... but it's NEVER easy to learn with them. Most of my "learning experiences" with Virgos involve heated arguments and me storming off or hitting something inanimate like tables and walls (Mars ruled with a Uranus square... what can I do?)... Virgos know how to push my buttons and are NOT afraid to call me on my crap. And as much as I get explosive about it - well - they are right... I hate to say it but they are right (I am sure you Virgos are SNICKERING right now because most of you know you are ALWAYS right haaaha!).

But it makes sense. I have Saturn in Virgo and you have NO IDEA how many Virgos I've encountered (and learned and are great friends with) during my Saturn Return!

Aries taught me staying mad forever is very boring prospect

Taurus taught me that paying for something good, once is preferable to paying for something mediocre over and over

Gemini taught me that it's okay to employ exit strategies

Cancer taught me that I won't be banished from adult-land for breaking down, and admitting it

Leo taught me that play is as important as work

Virgo taught me that eating regularly will improve my mental health

Libra taught me that just because I don't get along with someone, doesn't mean I can't work with them

Scorpio taught me that I'm not alone

Sagittarius taught me that if I want to, I can, and if I fail, move on

Capricorn taught me the value in taking care of my business and not waiting for other people to do it for me

Aquarius taught me not everyone thinks like me

Pisces taught me that the people who love me, will still love me. Even when I fuck up.

    Well put, Kashmiri! :)

Yes, us Arieses normally don't hold grudges... But my Cancer Moon tends to do that - only when really WRONGED!

Notatirem - I'd love to hear more detail about what you learned in that Leo dream if you see this request . . .

As a Pisces Sun, I've always believed that the most learning for me would come from Aries because it's the following sign.  And when I assert myself, I do succeed but I'm a very withdrawn type and don't assert myself much.  I have Jupiter conjunct Venus in Aries, though, so I have some access to that energy.

Lately, I've begun to feel that where I have a lot to learn is from Leo.   Because I suffer from Leo envy, and I think this must be a sign of something I need to learn from them.  (Maybe because my birth was induced by an impatient doctor (according to Mum) and if I had been born 30 minutes later, I would have been a Leo rising instead of Cancer rising?)  All I know is, I can't even imagine being a Leo and I'd like to be, at least sometimes.  Or at least understand their energy.

    Crackers:

I have Mars in Leo, which rules my chart... But DAMN! I have a difficult time channeling this energy! Mars was in retrograde when I was born so instead of the outward direction of energy - I tend to direct my energy inwards. It's frustrating, especially when you have Uranus squaring it! I have a pretty good 5th house (Mars, Jupiter, North Node conj.) and believe me, it's still really tough for me to channel that Leo-ness... That WANTING to be in the spotlight. I have a 12th house sun so I tend to stay in the shadows... I've been even called a shadow once by a mean girl in high school!!!

When I learn to channel my Leo, I'll let you know. :) It's a constant struggle for me... It makes sense since the North Node is in Leo and I have to strive towards self-love and being in the spotlight. :)

Crackers, its was an amazing dream, its in my top ten.  I was looking intently into a candle when a lion rose up out of it.  I zoomed in on his eyes which were very black but shiny.  When I pulled my focus back out it was my sisters husband and he had his arms out like Jesus.  He was full of pins and thorns.  (in real life he has a lot of tattoos and piercings.) He asked me for my pain and put it inside his heart and turned it into light. I woke up transformed.

    Kashmiri, that's a great list.

Virgos have taught me the art of service and how to find joy and pleasure in taking care of things.

My Aquarius man has taught me healthy detachment, not from him but from the urgency of answering the phone right this minute, or from ripping into a letter or whatever.

Wow, Notatirem.  I don't know how to process that - it's intense.  I'm curious to know if you were in a particularly painful period, then?  I'm guessing yes, since it was transformative.  I have noticed you have fascinating dreams and a good memory for them.  It's a gift.

Lunalie, that's very interesting.  I'd have thought you would access Leo at least in your 5th house activities with creativity, etc.?  Or at least, that's your avenue of access (and your N. Node challenge.) Am I correct in remembering you are in a creative arts field - involving beauty, costuming or something similar?  Maybe you need to get into the spotlight while also being disguised to protect your 12th house sun.  Use your creative skills to develop your own disguise (costume) so you can be in the spotlight and yet not be, simultaneously.

Leo is second house for me, with no planets in it. So, I dunno.

    Great dream notatirem!

I think I've learned the most from Taurus and Virgo, I have so much water, these folks bring me down to earth and remind me to cherish myself, my family, and my home.

I learn most from Sagittarius and Capricorn.  (opposite signs to my moon and ascendant, I just realized.)

Crackers: I'm in a creative profession (web/graphic designer and a makeup artist) and I think it's the only type of profession that feels "right" to me. But I have Saturn/Neptune so it really makes me super hard on myself with regards to creativity. I have Saturn in Virgo - I'm a perfectionist! And I guess Jupiter in its detriment sign in Virgo conjuncting my Leo Mars doesn't really help either.

The weird thing is, it isn't I who want the spotlight... I want the spotlight on my work! As a web designer who previously worked for huge clients, my work does get the "spotlight" as thousands of people view the websites I created every day. However, for some reason, I feel that the designs aren't exactly "perfect." I guess that's just the Saturn in Virgo in me, and my being critical about my creativity is another issue for another board. ;) It's a Saturn Return thing :)

I'd say surround yourself with Leos. I have no planets in Gemini and I discovered through facebook that MOST of my friends are Geminis! I guess, somehow, they feel my air sign/gemini void! In a way, having these people in your life will help you learn more about how to channel your inner ROCKSTAR :)

Pisceans refuse to stop believing, eh Notatirem. Lovely post. like that you highlighted that bit, Bananas..

I often think we can learn something about our "selves"  from the contrast and shadows cast by those with Sun signs opposite and square to our Suns, and we don't always have to be that personally connected either. Virgo teaches Pisceans like me to rein in and be more methodical, to think more about what I think..I like that very much, always sense when this is happening, I recognise Virgo not through the connections we make! Mirror opposites rowing their boats differently, yet often in pretty much the same direction.

"I recognise Virgo from the connections we make!" the word "not" is a typo from an edit I did..oops..

Virgoans have this challenging, questioning honesty about them that I like..which is why my friends always have Virgo prominent..thanks Virgos for being you!

Taurus. Calm, steady, consistent, good-humored. I'm balancing on a tight rope and they're on the ground yelling "what the fuck are you doing? you crazy? while you're doing that I'm gonna go get some pizza, have fun with alla that." lmao.

Capricorn! I seek advice from my best friend who is a Capricorn and she's good about looking at it from my point of view and then going, "Yes, you're off base and being emotional" or "No, that absolutely makes sense."

It gives logic to my emotion or sets me straight when I need it.

Plus, she never tells me I don't have a RIGHT to feel what I'm feeling, just that if I need to learn how to get past it the emotion and make do...here's what she would do in that situation.

I've learned most about life from Gemini and Libra because of the stories they tell. I've also learned a lot from Aries and Sag because of their life philosophies. I learn more about myself from fire signs in general.
