Hey all,

I've become somewhat familiar with the Scorpio dynamic (so much to learn, too!), and I was wondering:

How is a Cancer energy/person different from a Scorpio energy/person?

I think that Cancers are (way) more explicitly expressive, while with Scorps it's more of a psychic/feel thing (is that distinction accurate?)  How else are they different?

Do Cancers collect an inner circle while Scorp's regenerate?  Do they feed off of different types of energy?

In my experience, Cancers will take the initiative for the sake of nurturing/protecting someone or something that is important to them. Their moods are a little more changeable too, as they are ruled by the Moon.

Scorpios do encompass that psychic feel to them, but again, in my experience both Scorpio and Cancer are very intuitive signs and can sense things (emotions in me, for example) that I wouldn't have realized existed had they not pointed it out.

Scorpio lives for intense experiences, too, because they need/like transformation. Cancers like to play it a little bit more on the safe side.

Anyone else agree/disagree?

From my experience, Scorpio types are more suspicious where as cancer are downright moody.

Cancer = deep / Scoripo = intense.

Also: Cancer you can get close to - until they find a reason to pull away. Scorpio don't let you get close until you prove you're worthy of it.

I think Cancer feels but doesn't necessarily interpret or question.

Scorpio feels and then looks for the motive or hidden agenda.

I think Scorpio is more other-person oriented.

Yeah, I think Cancer feels and evaluates whether s/he feels comfortable or not. Scorpio feels and evaluates if more intensity is necessary.

Scorpio = Pointy

Cancer = Pinchy

I think Cancers and Scorpios make very different first impressions. Behind the scenes, Scorpios are more tender than they appear and Cancers are more hard-edged than they appear.

These are generalities, of course.

I think Cancers are less intense to most people.

Cancers can't keep secrets and are more likely able to get over it if you tell someone there's. Scorpio is the complete opposite of that. ha.

Hi im a cancer and my birthday lies in the second decan of Cancer which is the Pluto-ruled decan, which rules scorpio and I am a HUGE ball of energy.

My friend says im this never-ending ball of energy constantly out-puting. I don't feed off of people but rather they feed off of me, and if I try to take in other people's energy it seriously fucks me up and I feel emotionally over-loaded.

Scorpios are more authoritive about their power, and they KNOW they are powerfull. While cancers are more cautious and caring about how they come off and they don't necessarily seek power as much a scorpio. And honestly, I think Scorpios are much nicer (to your face) while cancers can come off cold (but have your best intention at heart)... and scorps are much more truthfull and not as self deluted.

For me, water Signs all have to do with mysteries,  Cancer relates to the mystery of birth :where you come from, being born and creation. Scorpio to the mystery of Death: where you are going, passion morality, and surrender.  Pieces to the mystery beyond death, before birth:  the Big picture, the cosmos forces beyond individual understanding.

 I think there is a lot of difference.  Scorpios have a spice and edge to them (darkness, meanness, intensity, call it what you will) more frequently than Cancerians do. 

Scorpios take what they perceive about you and use it rather than just take it in.  When they are mean, they can be really mean.

Take Elsa's post (I can't find it so I'm going to get it wrong) when she has this Cancerian type chick help her redecorate her home.  The girl sees a hole in the fence of something like that and says, "That looks like a heart" and Elsa responds, no, "That looks like a dick."

Cancer broods and lets go after time.  If the person apologizes, Cancer may accept and learn to trust again.

Scorpio broods and holds a grudge and plans a way to punish the offender.  If by chance the person apologizes (if they survived or avoided punishment) Scorpio will say they accept the apology (they didn't) and act like they trust again (they don't).

I have another question:  are Cancers less single-minded than Scorpios?

Or am I wrong to assume Scorpios are single-minded?

WanderingStar, do you mean obsessive?  I find that we hold equal weight on that one.

IMO, Scorpios are absolutely single-minded. More than Cancers. I think that is because Scorpio is a Fixed sign and Cancer is a Cardinal sign.

And to avoid painting people with too broad a brush, I was referring to unevolved Scorpios being single-minded.

More evolved Scorpios seem to benefit from an intense (but not single-minded) focus on their mission.
