I love that expression- put yer face on.

Do you wear it?    Would you not be caught dead going out without it?   Even farther,  sleep with it on  if you had a new guy?

Interested in your sun and rising too.

I'm a lip liner and lipstick gal- Hate more  but go the distance with  'smoky' eyes, etc as I  feel its part of the uniform for the office.  Only wear foundation if it's a life and death deal

Hahaha, I had to laugh at your "sleep with it on if you had a new guy?"

I so did that.  I did eventually notice I looked worse if I woke up in the morning with smudgy eye makeup, so now that I'm a little over my insecurity (err. 2 years later), I wash my face.  (But I STILL curl my eyelashes afterward! omg)   I rush around so much that I will leave the house without makeup but I always, always carry my little makeup bag in case I get a chance to throw some on.  I only do my eyes - never really more than lip gloss.

No, never.  I do not own any cosmetics.  I got a lipstick for a wedding a couple of years ago, but never used it again and eventually it went bad.

Daily just mascara. I usually only do the entire makeup thing for going out or church. I will not leave home without earrings. If I forget, I go and buy some!

Depends on how I feel in the morning, and how I look in the mirror! Based on that, and time constraints the make up either gets lathered on or the kids have to deal with Worzel Gummidge on the hair front!

I tell my husband all the time I have to go put my face on. I won't leave the house without makeup..I have a lot of problems from PCOS which is what really got me into makeup. I always liked it, but out of insecurity I learned very quickly how to cover up the scars and flaws. Now I can't leave the house with out it. Which honestly kind of sucks.

Very rare and if I do, I spend less than 2 minutes. Back when I was trying to be a siren I would spend 4, LOL.

It depends on my skin at the moment.  When I was on the pill my skin was immaculate.  I just threw on some mascara and gloss.  I absolutely hated foundation, powder or anything that you have to cover your face in.  But now that I'm off the pill, my skin has gone haywire and I do wear powder now.  Boo.

When I'm at home though, I wash my face and let it breathe.  My husband always likes me better without make-up.

MzScarlett... This is TOTALLY my turf ;) Thanks for posting this!

I'm an Aries sun and Ascendant. I love makeup - especially now that I'm a freelance makeup artist and student. However, unlike a lot of makeup artists, I veer towards two extremes: very low maintenance looks (which involves erased undereye circles, tweezed brows, mascara and lip gloss) to deep, dark and dramatic eyes (I wear a lot of dark purples, burgundies, and greys)and pale glossy lips - all depending on my mood. During special occasions, I'm often sporting a smokey eye - as dark and dramatic as it can go. My eyes are one of my best features so I make sure they get noticed.

I guess you can say I DO put a face on... at this point, I wear my makeup to look the part of a Makeup Artist, get noticed, and get gigs.I also wear makeup to alter my mood: the very act of doing makeup is a creative release for me, so that ultimately makes me feel better. As a general rule, the more time is spent on my makeup (unless it's a special occasion), the crappier I was feeling that day :P I let myself get lost in my craft.

I totally put my face on for work. I work at a "high-end" hair salon and if you don't dress the part you get sent home because you're "part of the experience"-um...whatever that means.

My skin suck balls right now so foundation is a must and I do either smokey eyes or pale eyes and bright red lips.

I don't really have a problem with it, it's fun for me. But when I am at home or with my SO, I like to keep it simple and soft unless we're going out on a date or whatever.

i just wish my skin will clear up once and for all. It's been AWFUL butt bad like gross bad. It may or may not have to do with the makeup but whatever. it's really just my face. I feel good inside and I have fun with it....if you squint, it's really not bad AT ALL.

I LOVE make-up, and yes I put my face on,lol.  I worked in cosmetics for a while and did some free lance make-up work, then I went to hair school and now am a hairstylist.

Elsa, I bet! Actually, I think Vid is also quite a muse.

I don't know why but I have a feeling that he likes to build things... and with color. Something with a story, or texture.

Almost always do my eyes. Today is smoky eyes. I wear mascara and liner on most days. A quick brush of bronzer. Special occasions I wear lipstick and lip gloss. Never wear foundation.

On the other hand, I can go without makeup and do so on the weekends.

But I shave my legs and armpits every day. Even when I am camping

Thanks for posting this...after the other NN post I was like: damn, I want to ask all these gals about a new concealer, ha ha.

When I work as a bicycle messenger (off and on for almost 13 years now) almost never, ever did. I'd just wear sunglasses, ha! I can't get all sweaty with makeup or I'll break out. I do wear makeup when I work in the office or going out. Mascara, concealer, blush. I never wear stuff on my lips except one (ONE) coat of shea butter. Every single lip thingy gives me chapped lips. Everything. Plus my man refuses to kiss me if something is on my mouth.

Gloria my skin is super gross right now. I just bought Alba organic facial cleanser and organic rose-hip oil which apparently is chock a block of natural Vitamin A. I put oil of oregano on a pimple last night and GOD what a mistake. Never, ever do that! Anyway. Wasting money on my bloody face I don't have, ugh. I hope it works. I can't cover up the pimples though, it feels too dirty when I do that.

i go all out with everything i have available, and i imagine to others i over do it sometimes. the process of doing makeup helps me get ready mentally for the rest of the day. i tone it down for situations, and i'm too poor to afford the good shit, but yeah... i want to look like a drag queen all day, every day. i'm pretty sure it's the only thing i do that's remotely "feminine".

Ladies, Prescriptive makes a really good concealer, called Camouflage and it works pretty good.

Kashmiri you should try it, or anyone. Yeah I put weird stuff on my face that I thought would help but it totally makes it worse.

Elsa, when is this Mars Opposing Saturn gonna be over with?  My face looks like Mars right now. haha. ha.

I love that expression too..."put my face on"

As a kid, my mother would say "I'm not going any where until I've got my eyes on". It always make us kids giggle. She was a Taurus Sun.

Now I catch myself saying it too...and my son just stares at me!

I wear makeup most days...depends on my mood for color etc. It's like working with an artist palette...same goes with my wardrobe. It 's all about creativity and creating and playing with looks. Taurus ASC, Leo Moon, Sag Sun.

I am a minimalist with makeup....a little blush and neutral gloss...or nothing because lipstick and gloss chaps my lips...I prefer pretroleum jelly.  My most favorite things are body lotions and real milk soap....love it, love it.  And every evening when I wash my face i mist real rose water on my face....feels wonderful....mmmmm.....and smells so good....Capricorn Sun, Libra Moon, Leo acs...

I do not wear anything anymore- no need i am not out in the real world.

I think I got burned out going to fashion school when I was younger- had to dress up for about 6hours a day. Also, I have freckles and strawberry blonde hair-I can't stand foundation.

I do love being tan though, and since portland ses no sun, I use bronzer in all forms all over my face, then a touch of mascara, and aquaphor(vaseline)for lips. So this is it if I absolutely have to wear schmuck on my face.

Most days around the house I don't wear any. If I'm just going to the grocery, maybe or maybe not. If it's daytime and I'm going out I will likely wear foundation because I have rosacea and like to cover some of the redness. I always have a gloss in my purse. Here lately I've been lining my eyes with wet powder... mascara maybe once or twice a week. In general I have been getting back into makeup lately. It's fun and girly and in moderation I think it certainly can enhance one's appearance. Also, my Husband sees women on campus all the time and I don't want him to come home to a washed-out, frumpy wife!

I second Denamarie--a good body lotions is wonderful. A good body scrub before hand makes your skin amazing. :)... this is turning to "what's your beauty routine"

I love Clarins self-tanner for face.  it's on the pricy side but you don't need a whole lot (it's a lotion).   I"m fair skinned and freckled, but I love the sun, and on days when I don't need to do "the face", I just put this on along with a rosy blush.  (Gemini sun, Libra rising)

I never did like foundation or powder, have wasted a lot of money trying to find some that I could stand to have on my face for more than 3 minutes - just makes me feel like I can't breathe.

In younger days, wouldn't leave home without eye makeup, blush, lipstick.  Now I rarely bother, but when I do it's basically the same colors/stuff I've always worn, hmm maybe it's time to try a new color?  Also my younger sister is after me to color my hair which is mostly silver with a few streaks of black left - the biggest one goes down the center of the top of my head, like a reverse skunk thing goin' on.  I don't know, you guys think I should do it?  Won't people just think I'm trying to look younger?  And what about when it starts to grow out - I'll really look like a skunk then!

I always *mean* to wear make up to the office, because all the other girls do and since I already look good I know how easy it is for me to look better y'know? Er. I mean its just professional. To look better than the other girls in the office.

Not that I have an ego or anything . . ;)

However I sleep late, and because I have naturally clear skin (I consider any zit at all to be a full break out and that happens maybe twice a year), make up can rarely rarely win against ten minutes more in bed so its gloss at my desk, and if I  haven't had enough sleep and I feel like doing it up to look better I fish in the bottom of my purse for that cover girl foundation that automatically matches your skin tone, some highlighter to brighten my ceeks/under my eyes and mascara if the subway car is emptyish and not too jostly on the tracks.

Friday/Saturday night though I like to play it up though.  My friend works at Sephora and I get lots of free samples and well. Its fun to play. Usually RED lipstick, and then after that whatever I feel like, sometimes drk broody eyes, sometimes shiny metallics sometimes natural brown/pale gold, sometimes purple .. I've given up on blue though.

My venus is in the 12th in sag and people generally think I look better than I think I look, and often think I'm wearing make up even when I'm not. My Sun is in Capricorn trine my moon in Virgo (pale healthy skin with freckles -buying foundation is a bitch because people always think my skin is darker than it is and they never believe me til they try and put it on my face to prove me wrong -) And my rising is either Capricorn or Sag. True node in Leo trine my Venus.

    Hey Peppermint!

I never did like foundation or powder, have wasted a lot of money trying to find some that I could stand to have on my face for more than 3 minutes - just makes me feel like I can't breathe.

There's a proper way of applying foundation - most of us just haven't been educated on how to do so! I use an oil-free foundation (Makeup Forever HD) and I just put a dot each on both cheeks, chin and forehead. And with a foundation brush (it looks flat), you blend it in. Usually that's all you need to use!

As for powder - look into blotting powders. Mac has a very good one that I often use in photo shoots. They come in light, medium and dark and are translucent on the skin.

if you do not need so much coverage, a tinted moisturizer is your best bet. Usually they come with SPF 15. My favourite is Laura Mercier but it has quite a hefty price tag (to me, at least, but it's reasonable for quality makeup). You don't even really need a brush for this because it's so sheer and easy to use :)

Hey, if you're totally digging the "reverse skunk" look, I don't see why you shouldn't sport it ;) As for colours... factor in skintone and haircolour. There really is no age limit to colour - it's all about KNOWING what colours work! I know for sure that having grey hair will give your hair some cooler undertones. But I'll have to see what your skintone looks like before I start recommending colours ;)

Also, be mindful of lifestyle. if you're the type (like me) who just gets up in the morning and dashes to work (or wherever) and you're not keen on high maintenance looks, don't wear red lipstick or complex eyecolours (think Mac cosmetics) when you're in a hurry because those take time! I normally stick with neutrals in times like those

Anyway.. yeesh I talked too much! This topic just gets me all excited!
