Dorothy!!! Even when she's a bit whiny I'm so impressed by how tenacious she is. And she is kind. And you know, I like those shoes...had a pair of red sequined shoes once...
Zorro. I know he's fictional, but somewhere/somehow his spirit lives.

P J Harvey - so utterly true to herself.
Ged - the boy wizard in Ursula Le Guin's 'Tales of Earthsea'.
Malcolm Gladwell - original thinker!
Like Elsa, I feel connected to Anne of Green Gables.
Simply, she IS me. The depth of her emotion, her sensitivity...but also...her anger, her feisty nature, the comedy of errors she's constantly in because everything she touches breaks some how....it's me. All of her.
The only thing missing is the red hair. ![]()
And to picture it, I remind you of the particular part where she's doing the Ophelia thing in the river with her girlfriends; this displays it as painted by John Everett Millias.
Sweet, sweet, agonizing misery; wrapped up in delicious, all encompassing romance:
Doris Lessing. Not so much for her writing but for her take-no-prisoners, totally self-determined, free-thinking, no bullshit attitude. And Gabriel Byrne - yes I do fancy the a** off him, but he's another freewheeler. In his book he listed the writers and poets that he loved as a young man and they were all the same ones who'd made a huge impact on me, which might explain a lot.
I have been thinking about this...it's a hard question!
When I was a kid, I identified with like Harriet the Spy. In junior high, I made myself up a notebook of observations about the people I went to school with, including an exhausitve list of what I perceived as their personal assests and liabilities. I would let people see OTHERS pages, but not their own. Y'kno. Didn't know they could handle it.
Yes, I was incredibly arrogant. I hide it better now. :)
The only excpetion was for my double-Libra pal, who literally nagged me near to death to see her own page. She could not leave it be, not knowing what my conclusion about her was.
What she found was a lengthy list of assests, with a single liability, written before her "let me see it" campaign: Can be too persistant...
gads I loved Harriet!
I also really like Doris Lessing, not her fiction but I've read 2 autobiographical books of hers and they were fascinating, 'Under My Skin' was about growing up in Africa, I was riveted.
I like the Mogli thing, one of my favorite movies. I tend to to talk to animals myself, but that is another story for another day.
Nicole Kidman (post Tom Cruise divorce only however - when she blossomed). I loved Moulin Rouge, Cold Mountain she nailed it (I am from the south not too far from where that story was set)
Jody Foster (a straight version)
OK - so I have a Gemini Moon in the 11th house and a Venus in Aries in the 9th house - God/Goddess help me.
If you could smush those two into one person you would have it.
Also - she is not a celebrity but a movie character - Eowyn the Shield Bearer from the Lord of the Rings.
My friends say that I am Scrat - the squirrel from the movie Ice Age. I just won't give up!

I seem to admire people who have spoken truth to power, for some reason.

Togi, this is such an interesting question... I've been thinking all day!!
Anyway, I can't think of just one, but it would include a mix of the following:
Scarlett O'Hara, Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer), Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice), Anne of Green Gables (yes, luci!) and Princess Leia, oh, and maybe Jack Nicholson.
