I had a client ask what their soul's purpose is. I am going to try to answer this question as soon as I post this but wonder...

Do you know what your soul's purpose is?  What about another the soul of another an it's purpose?

My soul's purpose is to be me.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a true answer to your question, but here goes:

I think my soul's purpose is to be a teacher, or to disseminate information.  I state this because all of my adult Life I have been in a teaching capacity in one form or another.  Examples: Teaching undergrads and grad students, training at residential weight loss facility, teaching heart patients while working in cardiac rehab, teaching exercise classes, teaching at workshops, teaching Yoga, teaching at children's farm camps....uh, you get the point..

When I am in the teaching mode, I get the "goose bumps" - feeling like "yeah, this is what I'm supposed to be doing"...Aquarius 3rd house w/Saturn and SN...

Yikes what a loaded question! I am getting more info as I go on my soul purpose (and I have been at this for a long ass time). I know that Im here to help people learn and evolve. What form that takes is whatever form the person or people Im working with need... I can claim to know this much however... when you are not on purpose everything seems to cause fear. 

When you are on soul purpose you may feel confusion, but not panic/fear/terror that comes with the unknown. You just "KNOW" that it will work if you keep putting one foot in front of the other.

So when Im asked this question by clients, no one can tell them what that is... but I can tell what energies would be beneficial in working with, to help the client figure that out for themselves.

Maybe they just wanted to know what you think about their North Node's sign and house..... when I was reading about my NN, many sites referred to it as "your soul's purpose/mission"

That's my question. I asked for a chart reading because it's complex and I can't always extract direction from it. Maybe that's intentional. I have Jupiter in the 12th exalted in Cancer conjunct my Moon in its own sign trining my 4th house sun. It sounds awesome, but it's also kind of nebulous. 12th house/Moon/Cancer are all mysterious/deflective. It almost feels like one of my life lessons is to follow my intuition with a degree of blind faith that things will work out in such a way that I land on my feet. Maybe it's just a harnessing of that energy. It's confusing (12th House!). I had a week filled with tension and uncertainty and spectacularly unintended consequences and it exposed me to a spirituality that stunned me. That veil has been lifted. I don't know what it means exactly, but I think I'm like an agent of karma, or a conduit of some external force. I hate to sound all woo-woo, but seriously, my 12th house implies that I'm serving a higher purpose in this life.

Maybe it would help if I posted my chart and you guys can stab your best guesses?

Sorta? I am trying to figure it out...have inklings but no certain direction as yet.

In general, as you put it Elsa, "serve or suffer"......as far as specifically, I'm finding that the longer I live and the more I learn, the less I know about it.

Serve or suffer, I don't think they are necessarily mutually exclusive.

I think maybe it's to help/heal, and I don't mean just medically.  People seem to be able to confide in me, and I'm someone that listens well.  Sometimes all people need is just to be able to talk.  *Although that's not what my NN node says, which I kinda think is a crock, personally.  I love having nice surroundings, but I just can't believe that my higher purpose is to have a nice house, so to speak.  NN in Taurus.

@ Korellyn - I am venturing a guess that you either know it in your early adult Life, or you just experience it later in Life (and put the pieces together)...

@ elsa, think you may find that is the answer to the long asked question, "what is the meaning of life?" of course its different for each individual, but if you can figure that one from astrology what a HUGE help to us all that will be! GO ELSA!!

@hardcorewatersign: Clues about Higher Purpose/Mission are obtained by closely studying the sign and house position of the North node, and also by noting planetary aspects to the North node. Although only the client ultimately knows what their highest purpose is, the astrologer can sit down with the client and suggest possibilities. For instance, taking a quick look at your chart, your Sun sign ruler Pluto is conjunct your North node, so you have a strong destiny. With Venus conjunct Pluto, you have powerful artistic ability, and you have probably been through some fairly intense and painful relationship scenarios, which you have felt at a very deep soul level. My soul's purpose: I know a bunch of it yes, but there is mystery, still, and more "purposes" I'm sure will be revealed as the years pass but.... a couple things I know, yes.... I don't think there is one thing; there is more than one; plus add-ons!

Sometimes I feel it very strongly; other times I have a lot of questions...

And since people are talking Node, mine is Pisces, 6th House... I do work with animals and am getting deeper into the healing aspect (with them)-- 

To achieve balance between independence and subordination, impulse and depth, learned through partnerships and romantic relationships.  Since I've been alone most of my life, I'm obviously not doing very well...

Wizron, thank you. My NN reinforces what seems to have been my life direction and reflects with a lot more specificity the overall gist of my chart. The South Node stuff - the very many, infinite things I do to sabotage myself - could not have been more spot on, and I never would have been able to tease out the fine threads on my own, not without a lifetime or two anyway. My NN prescription involves the serve or suffer axis, which really rings true. 

I disagree that the north node shows the soul's purpose. While it's a neat explanation, it's simplistic and does not hold up to study in practice.

On the simplistic side, I just have a different philosophy. It seems to me that a soul has many purposes and a lot of this is mysterious. 

For example, something you do that seems very small to you - insignificant even, can have a profound effect on another person and who is to say, you are not born to have that effect? 

As I mentioned to hard core, you may be standing on the side of the road waiting for a bus as a child walks in front of a car bearing down. You save that child who goes on to do something spectacular and perhaps that was soul's purpose - it may be the most important thing you ever do.

On the practice side, my north node is in Leo in the 7th. I have done little but strive all my life and the patterns are very clearly shown. The patterns and events in my life incorporate my entire chart...

It is also worth noting Vedic astrologers treat the nodes very differently than western astrologers which is something else that gets my attention. 

I don't have a specific conclusion due this. I just think when it comes to something as vast and mysterious as the purpose of a soul, I really doubt you can give that to the north node and be done with it. 

I like your explanation Elsa. I find that I am pulled by a current and that when you look back, one thing led to another, but you didn't really know in advance. I still like to swim towards plans and goals, and trust that the tides will help me, even if I end up somewhere different.

Funny, what you said brought back a memory.  I was one of those kids that was going to go tearing across the road to school, thinking if I just ran, that the car would miss me.  I don't know how old I was, not very, but I've never forgotten the older fellow that reached out and grabbed me and hauled me back and scolded me.  Lol, and he stood there and made me wait until it was safe, and then told me when I could go.  It was just him and I too.  I'll tell you, I've had angels sitting on my shoulders, for crying out loud.  Wow. 

Thank you all for weighing in. My take away from this is that I can only ever suspect, but I'll never know for sure. But with my powerful/mysterious 12th house, I probably shouldn't really worry about it either. I like the idea of being an astrologer as a means of empowering people. It would be a good channel for my intuition and need for creativity and freedom. But again, I think for now, in true watery nature, I'm just gonna go wth the flow =)

An instrument of god. So neptunian/jupiterian with saturn in cancer. I'm well supported in life and find others feed off me when I let myself flow. NN in sag as well. Life only gets tough when there's a change in direction as it takes me a while to believe, trust and shift gears.
