As for me, I walk very erect, shoulders back, head high, with a deceptively ground-eating stride for someone of my height (5'1") and a definite bounce to my step. But at the same time, I'm very aware of my "swish" (for lack of a better word): there's a lot of hip action and everything jiggles. *laughs* I walk toe-heel instead of heel-toe, too, which is something I tried to correct once but eventually decided against. I absolutely abhore being behind slower people (walking or driving) and zip around at the first chance. Milling crowds are just about the worst thing and set my teeth on edge -- I want to move with purpose! But I often find myself impeded like this, furiously grinding my teeth until a space opens and I can mooooove.
All of this leads me to think that this is my Mercury in Leo conjunct Saturn rather than my Cancer Ascendant: showy, but frequently baffled.
Alright, who's next?!
Sun and mercury in Aries. Scorpio ascendant my every day walk is FAST, not fond of getting stuck behind a group of slow walkers.
My walk in high heels is completely different and definitely more of a Scorpio tail swish.
I'd say the way you carry yourself is shown by the ascendant... the actual motion by Mercury.
I have Mars conjunct Mercury in the 9th. I walk fast and prefer space. For example, I don't like to walk with a man who has his arm around me and if walking in a crowd (like from a concert) I will look for pockets of space and be in them. At the very least, I will move through the crowd as quickly as possible and be relieved when I break away from the pack.
The last thing I would do is walk behind the pack like I am on some kind of stroll and would be driven crazy by someone who wanted me to do that, IN other words, if a man did this on a date, there would be no other date once I got loose / free of him,
I'm very self conscious of my ass when I'm walking. Butt wiggle runs in the family and I try to avoid it, ha ha.
I try to walk with my head up; I'm inclined to walk looking downwards and am aware of the implications of that (ie. looking scared) so try to avoid. Also hate walking with my boobs sticking out, though it's better for the back, right?
In short, I am self-conscious of how womanly I feel while walking. Probably all the cat-calls I get. I just came back from visiting and old friend in an isolated spot...walking down the empty road and someone yelled out the window. My friend was surprised "In 15 years of living here that has never happened to me"
Me: "Sorry, it's because I'm here" :(
In short I try to walk with purpose. Sagittarius ASC; Taurus Mercury
I don't know how I walk...
I have virgo rising and mercury in cancer
Hopefully I walk strong. No heels here....
I think Sa and I share a walk. heh
Although, my walk has been described as both "manly" and "soldier-like". People often comment to ask me if I'm on a mission to be some place. Or "Woah, where's the fire?"
Leo rising, Mercury in Aquarius in the 7th.
I think I walk pretty fast, and I too hate mulling crowds, lol.
Mercury in Gemini in the first house and Gemini rising.
That is too cute kashmiri. When I was HUGE and preggo I was walking downtown with my friend and our girls and we passed a construction site, lol. Some guy started singing "Havin' my Baby" OMG I started laughing!!!
I move fast, with enough salsa hips to keep the whole body moving. It's like inertia at its finest - even though I'm fairly stout, I am rarely "a body at rest" even when I'm sitting down working. So I tend to dance-walk my way through crowds and move down the street perfectly in time to my music.
1H
Sun/Saturn/Asc with Mercury in late 12H
(conjunct Asc but not the other two)
I'm fast, and heavy on the feet. When I still worked in the real world, I had a Walking Twin in the office, this woman who was always on as urgent a mission as I was. We had to be careful not to crash into each other (Cancer meets Libra - bang!). I learned to listen for her footsteps coming in the opposite direction. She was great!
I hate crowds too - I mean HATE them. I can't even stand trying to squeeze through the aisles at Walmart. My dad doesn't like them either and so we never got to go to amusement parks as kids, unless it was with some other family.
I also hate being dragged down by crap - heavy bags, scarves, outerwear. Blahh. Must be free and unencumbered - and get out of my way!
I attribute my best moves to my 12th house Mars trine Neptune, because I don't walk, I swim. I get excited by the challenge of a large crowd, engage my cloaking device and glide right through the natural rivulets that present themselves. Its invigorating.
Most of my first house is Virgo so sensible shoes are important. I only own one pair of high heels which are reserved for having sex in.
Pisces Ascendant: People say I am a gentlemen. But they don't know about my fire trine yet!
Mercury in Sagittarius in 9th house: People say I walk too fast, but that's just the way I walk.
I have a slouching problem. People tell me that when I walk I look at the ground a lot, and sometimes when I feel more confident, I walk a bit straighter. I also tend to look lost or scared or childlike when I look up, frequently my eyes widen, my eyebrows rise, and my jaw tightens when I get nervous, particularly in an awkward moment with a passerby, the whole exchanging eye thing. I love to amble, to walk for the pleasure of it, and as slowly as I want to, ever since I was little, I loved to "walk where the eyes can see." I don't like to walk to exercise or to get to a destination. My number one favorite weekend and weekday thing is to walk for hours and explore things. I tend to walk in a zig zag pattern and weave. Especially when I'm walking with my friends. When I try to tell my friend a secret while we're walking, I typically lean on her so much that she might collapse. It's a joke with us. Walking is definitely a big part of my life.
The whole exploring thing can probably be attributed by my Ascendant in Aquarius. The zig zagging while I walk and maybe slouching can be attributed to my Moon/Mercury in Cancer in the 6th.
I got a big swing in my backyard.
My body is shaped like an X: big hips, smaller waist, big shoulders. Kind of bang-bang curvy. I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way.
I can't stand to have anybody walking behind me. Around the age of six, my dad said to me as we were walking out of the local grocery store, "You walk just like your mother." He said it snidely, like it wasn't a good thing, or something to be mocked. Ever since then, I will stop and pretend to check my cell phone if I sense someone walking closely behind me. I have yelled at a friend because he was walking silently behind me and didn't say anything. When I realized he was there, I was mortified.
I've had guys walk behind me and comment, so I avoid those situations.
Betcha didn't think there'd be so much trauma associated with the simple act of walking, eh? ![]()
Otherwise I usually stand up straight and walk at a sedate pace. Helps to minimize the wiggle.
LOL notatirem!
all i know is i have a wide stride. (kinda like john cleese on monty python! hahah except, im not tall) my little momma takes 14 steps to my one, swinging her arms rapdily to generate her forward
but since i quit the vegetarianism, quit the marriage, and quit smoking, I have gained a lot of "curvage" and I find that my walk has changed significantly...I mean, I have had to learn how to walk differently cause there's more of me moving around! less reserved and stately virgo and more full moon cancer
, perhaps.
If I am walking with another person, I *must* be on the left. MUST.
Don't know the astrology of that.
I walk with my feet pointing slighty inwards and sometimes scuff my heels. I usually walk quickly, not necessairly in a straight line & usually trying to go around other people. When I was in my late teens and 20's I felt my feminine mystique tied to my walk....it was kind of like, 'think what you like'....I've got this. LOL.... that small shot of ego tied with my walk was one of the few things I did have. One of my nicknames was 'liquid hips'......well, now that's changed and I would say I've earned the title liquid belly... fortunately still appreciated here in the middle east.....
Libra rising with Mercury in the 5th...but I'm pretty sure my Pisces sun/moon plays into this!
SaD, I like to be on the right...my left ear works better. I've been told off repeatedly since I was about 8 years old that I'm a "herder"
SaD, I like to be on the left...my right ear works better. I've been told off repeatedly since I was about 8 years old that I'm a "herder"
Mercury in Pisces in 11th house. I have an Ascendant in Aries.
I used to slouch when I walk in my younger years, but as I grew older (and more fashionable... haha!), I started minding my posture. I would say I have decent posture when I walk. The speed of my walk varies, depending on my moods. Most of the time, I'm fast (Areis Aries Aries!). Sometimes I'm slow and floaty (a la pisces). And most of the time I run into things... I guess because I'm always in Lala land :D
Kash! Which is it?? Make up my mind!!!

Like you, for me it is a matter of a better ear...
UGH! i thought i deleted that!!!
ha ha ha...

Thinking about this while walking back in from break. One of the things I realized when I was writing on the "what attracts you" thread is that I'm very much attracted by someone's carriage and walk, which made me curious about what others think/see. And is this an Ascendant thing (presentation) or a Mercury thing (mode of travel)?
So... What does your walk say about you? Where's your Ascendant? Mercury?
